Is it normal for sport bike riders to...?

...chase each other on the freeway? I was on my way to class the other day and this guy on an 899 Panigale flew by me. As if by uncontrollable instinct I downshifted and floored it, staying right on his tail for a while until he decided to go on the shoulder at 100+ mph (I have bad luck riding on shoulders). Is this normal? Do strangers on sport bikes typically play chase like this?

Only if they fear that the person passing may actually have a larger dick or balls then there own and feel that they need to catch up to have a side by side comparison....or they both have a I.Q so low that they want to meet up to try to add there scores together to see if that number will exceed 50, before they almost certainly die from a accidental death by motor vehicle crash....or they have already signed there organ donor card and figure "fuck it" its worth it to show that guy that I can act like a hoonigan in public too and endanger other people's life's and it's ok cuz I'm a organ donor and I'm bored with life anyways and I want some asshole to have my eye's.

Since you asked I'll give you an honest answer. Hell no! One, I have no clue what that persons riding ability is, the last thing I want to have happen is be on his ass at a high speed when he puts the bike down. Two, I'd much rather he get the ticket that way I can do my normal 10 or so over and not have a worry about being the target. Three, this seems to be basic common sense to not do this but I guess that is different for everyone, Lastly I don't feel I have anything to prove to a stranger. This is why us as bikers get a bad reputation. Just my thoughts though......

Guilty.... you are not alone. I really try to restrain myself though, and I have been pretty good. Don't let anyone else fool you though, they've all done it to some extent, at some time or another, whether they admit it or not. We are all human after all. Especially when you are riding a roaring bike, and the only thing between you and temptation is a flick of a wrist away.

The important thing is you recognize you are doing it, and make better decisions.

but if it gets your adrenaline going then I can see why it would be hard to resist. Sometimes someone wants to race, I can't help but saying yes. following a stranger who is riding dangerously, or me chasing him is causing him to ride dangerously.... no I can't relate on that matter.

Everytime i see a motorcyclist regardless or type, i wonder do they wanna play?! I dont always shoot past 100mph, but sometimes. Its fun, its reckless fuck um if they shun you.

Would do stuff like that occasionally on my CBR, when I was 18...... Never bothered with freeway chases on the Buell.

Canyons can be a different story....... I tend to go around the speed limit on straights and speed through the corners. So when someone goes blowing by me on a straight and then is slowing down to cage speed on the corners.[mad] They will sometimes get passed, either when slowing down way to much for a corner or coming out of a corner.

I've observed that it's not just sport bike riders that have a monopoly on being douchbags. Those power cruiser guys often seem to need to exert themselves, in straight lines anyway.

Even the Harley guys try proving something from time to time.

Its pretty common here in Vegas. We had a guy in an AMU right next to mine hit a car pulling out from a stop sign at 135mph+ from what our commander told us. Died on impact and the bike was literally cut in two. Whatever you do, don't engage in freeway chases. All it takes is someone changing lanes and not seeing you or the person you're chasing lay it down in front of you or you yourself laying it down.

I was hit going 20 in slower-ish freeway traffic and hair line fractured my tibia (the lady was on her cell phone and it came down to lay it down or fall 30ft off an overpass). Imagine what will happen at 100+. Just be responsible man. Let all these other jerks gamble with their own lives.

Not only would it be risking a nasty wreck.... It would also be risking getting shot. If someone started "chasing" me after I passed them on the highway, the last thing I'd expect is the guy wanted to "play". I'd be thinking the guy wanted to steal my bike/$$$ or wanted to fight me for some reason..... I'm pretty sure, I'd be pulling over and preparing to defend myself.

While riding through Nevada on my ZX14, a Ninja 650 blew by me. I wasn't having that. I cracked the throttle and caught up to him. After two hours of 100+ mph, he pulled into a gas station. I pulled over as well. We said hello and he said that he was from Nevada and was on his way to Reno. He said he knew the roads well and knew where the cops hang out so I should follow him and make great time across the state. I traversed the entire state of Nevada at triple digit speeds. It was one of the best days of my life.

I suppose since we're confessing, I'll mention the time several years ago my wife & I were on a motorcycle trip together, she on her ZX6r & me on a 919, through the interior of BC on the Coquihalla Highway.

I was following her, we had the road to ourselves, doing the speed limit, when a supercharged Range Rover blew past us. Apparently my wife was having none of it and I followed along at speeds up to 240km/h (150mph) while they played cat-&-mouse, turning what should have been a 3hr ride into about 1/2 that!

This illustrates that it's not just men (possibly with small dicks) who engage in this stuff...

Yeah, I figured it was a dick size thing. I kinda felt my penis shrink as he flew by, so I had to use the penis pump (XB12R) to make me feel like a man again. Though he proved he had the larger dick (or smaller brain) by riding on the shoulder. Keep in mind the shoulder he rode on was probably no more than 3-4 feet wide with drainage grates and loose gravel. I rode on a shoulder once a few years ago and totaled my scooter. And I rode on a shoulder again and broke three vertebrae. I've learned my lesson...mostly.
