Would you check that is it right re torque stem head bearing?

1) jack the front wheel 2) loose upper clamp bolt 3 bolts 3) loose chrome cap nut. 1bolt 4) loose lower clamp bolt 4bolt 5) re torque 38-42 cap nut

at this point, front fork goes down because front wheel is lifted. should i take down the jack ??

and tight everything back with right torque?

You can leave the upper clamp bolts tight and do the rest
I don't tight the chrome bolt by torque value, I do it by feel, but that is just my way[smirk]

Leave the upper triple clamped and loosen the lower triple like he said. And I also did mine by feel, but I had my bike a part and did not have any extra weight on there(such as the wheel/tire, brake, etc). It did happen to correspond with the torque settings as specified in the manual, so you should be good with that.

So maybe you guys overtorqud than what manual saying?

I didn't. Like I said above, I loaded the bearings by feel to where they needed to be, then checked what that torque was (just to see how it compared with the manual). And I remember that it was within the range of what the manual says, although don't remember where in that range it was. I think it was on the tight end.

yep,on the thight end, I allsow did mine whitout any thing on it, just the forks, that's the only way to tight it by feel I suppose

My bike is 04 xb12r, I saw the ebay, there re only 05~ stem bearings from allballs. It will be fit 05 bearing on my 04?

[up] to the all balls tapered roller bearings. That's what I used and they are great.

In principle I do not agree to retorque the original ballbearings
Retorque the roller bearings yes
