is it the intake boot?

i have noticed small amounts of loss of power, back pressure and starting issues. it starts fine at first when the engine is cool, when i try to restart it when the engine is warm i have to use a bit of throttle to get it to turn over. obviously a choke issue?

so as an experiment i bought a can of carb spray knowing if i had an intake issue the carb spray would find the leak and suck the cleaner into the engine thus making the RPMs rise, right? wrong... it did the opposite. i sprayed the intake lines focusing on the boot and the RPM's dropped almost to the point of stalling and slowely rising again, very strange. so my question is, do i need to replace my boot? or could it be a choke issue? or is the boot causing my choke issue?

thanks! oh btw 2000 blast 79XX miles!

Carb cleaner stalls the engine. Starting fluid makes the rev's rise.

If you sprayed the boot with a fluid, and the idle changed ... it's pretty obvious.
