Is there a market for high mile XB12?

I'm ready for new bike and I'm trying to decide what to do with my 2007 XB12ss (in triple black). The Buell has been my workhorse. I commute on it every work day (40 miles round trip). She has 35,000 on her now. I've never seen one for sale with miles that high.

If I had lots of room at home I'd just keep it and ride it on the occasional weekend only. I really like it. As it is now, I'd have to move things around and really squeeze to make space. So I have a slight preference to selling it. Just wondering if it's worth the time and effort or if everyone runs away from a bike with that many miles.

There are no mechanical flaws with it and it's never been wrecked. It's just worn after that many miles. Needs to be wrenched on every little while and I don't have the time. I've done everything at the HD dealership at this point but it really doesn't make sense to keep using it as a commuter and taking it in to HD for expensive maintenance.

Thoughts on what I should do?

A lot of people will run away and your price will drop comparatively. But if you've taken care of it when it'd truly not even considered high mileage. You're best bet is someone who knows this to be true or knows Buell...make space, post it up, buy a new toy, and be patient...

Yeah, if you were located close enough to me, I would have an interest for sure.

I'd list it up for sale if your curious as to it having a market, and you want to get a different bike. If people doen't come knocking, then you'll know there is not much of a market....

I commute on my xb9 every day for the past 8 years and shes got 71000 miles, so why cant you continue to commute on her?
if shes ok, and if you like her[confused] just start to do your one maintenance, its not a difficult bike to work on

It'll take a little time to find the right buyer..we live mostly in a throw away economy..most people get nervous about having to do repairs..most likely you will need a buyer that knows 'Harley' motors and doesn't mind tearing one down to do some repairs. Personally I won't buy a bike with high miles but I fall into that category of not wanting to pull a motor :D most likely it'll sell fine, you just might have to suffer selling at a lower price then you want too..and you'll have to wait a bit.
Good luck [up]

If you can't find it a good home you could part it out.... that being said I'll take the swing arm, belt and oil lines. Haha

I don't have time to do my own maintenance. I work at least 60 hours a week and sometimes a lot more and I have 3 little kids. The free time I do have isn't going to be spent wrenching on my motorcycle unfortunately. I'm part of the throw away economy I guess. Maybe when my boys get a little older we can do the maintenance together and turn it into a family activity.

dude, my '03 has just over 63k+ after 7 yrs, I have three kids, live in Murrieta...an hour drive north of San Diego and work in Phoenix and commute home after work on Friday and return Sunday night, I to pull 50-60 hour weeks, last week finally got my bike back together after replacing the shift forks and inspecting the the entire clutch pack. my 17 yr old son helped me tear the bike down and build it back up.

This is exactly what I'm looking for! shopping for an xb12s or SS for my first bike, and I've been looking for one with high miles. I have my heart set on a buell and wanted a high mileage bike to get acclimated to. What are you thinking about asking for it? Can you post some pics?
Thanks!

Pasadena,
I was starting to wonder the same thing about my Lightning Ss which has all but 47000 on it. I'm thinking of getting on a serious dual sport or maybe even an mx'er for my dirt fix.

LLQJ21,
Where are you located I might have what your looking for.

Here's a pic. 32,800 miles

bought mine with 24k for 3700 bucks 2 years ago if that helps. it was clean with dealer service records

I dont mind a bike with miles, im more skeptical of low miles. makes me wonder why it hasnt been ridden

At 32 k it's not even a third of the way through its service life. Would you worry about buying a car with with 35000 miles on it ?
