I just bought a 2005 XB9R. I don't think the exhaust is factory but I am not sure.

What do you think?

Yeah, The rivets on the top of the pipe, near the headers, can vibrate out..then you're going to run over it. From the looks of things..that pipe isn't mounted correctly either..[confused]

There is a mounting bracket specifically for that muffler in the back. Looks like someone just strapped it on cause they didn't want to remove the oil lines or cut a piece out of the stock bracket.....

Will it be ok the way it is or should I fix it. Do I need to order a new bracket.

Is their already a forum about this that I should read? thanks for the help.

I can't tell by the pics but if the front mount is secure and in tact then what you have is about the same as the Jardine mount. The only difference is the stock muffler mount does not contact the entire contours of the Jardine. Looks like it won't fall off to me. Crewdog

It feels secure. I Think it has almost a thousand miles with it on the bike. Rivets in the front all look good. I havent ridden it yet, still snow on the ground.

It is a carbon Jardine (I have one one my bike). The rear mount is not the Jardine mount, but looks ok and should hold (don't sue me if it doesn't). There should be a front mount also - make sure it is bolted in and secure. It might be worth getting a price from Jardine on the mount.

I have not read any reports of the Carbon (or Ti) exhaust having the end cap coming off - I'm not saying it won't - but all the ones that have fallen off have been the aluminum cans. In my opinion it is a fatigue issue with the aluminum can and not the rivets. I have more than 1000 miles on mine without issue.

The front mount is bolted to the frame. It looks just like the pictures on the Jardine website. I tride to shake it or move it and it did not budge. Thanks for all the help. I think I will just check it alot when I start ridding it. If it starts to loosen up I will just get the right mount.

Consider, 1) add another strap at rear, and 2) make-up something to distribute/spread contact between rear bracket and muffler can. Even a strip of heat-resistant fabric webbing...
(I've not seen the correct mount-up/bracket)

I have been reading You need a race ecm or some kind of mod to the ecm if you run a Jardine exhaust. How do I know if the person who installed the exhaust did that.

well If they put the factory race ecm the ecm will say FOR RACE USE ONLY on the side of it. If it was done using ecmspy you would need ecmspy to find out.

Not all Race ECMs said "For Race Use Only" - (Can't remember exact years). Best way is to get ECMSpy & cable - Load EEPROM and look at the maps.

If it hasn't been done do I need to do somthing. Is it bad to run a Jardine with a stock ecm. It seems to run ok.

It's always best to custom remap or at least load a Race ECM EEPROM instead of the stock. But if there's no intake mod on the bike - you'll be alright, though a little lean.
