Hey guys, heres a dumb question, i just got my 2003 xb9s and i love the idea of switching from Jap inline 4 to twin, my bike as all stock from A to Z which the previous owner didnt ride it tha much and has only 800 miles on it, so i would like to change some stuff on it like handlebars, mirrors, add pucks, fender eliminator and some other cosmetic touches, and ofc the exhaust, im about to get the jardine the carbon one that i found on ebay, but i ran across this forum and heard that ECM SPY needs to be configured with it, but i have no idea what that is and how it works and how u install it on your bike, little help from you guys would really help me and id apriciate it a lot, thanks

Its the same like on every vehicle where an exhaust is modified. You have to tune the bike or get an off the shelf tune in the form of a preprogramed ECM from the EBR store.

Yes gregoxb that i get, but to me its the first time ive heard about maps or ecms or stuff like this, last time i had changed the exhaust on my kawAsaki zr7 and i never thought it would need maps, i never knew they existed till yesterday, its like i need a step by step tutorial! This might sound stupid but u know nobody was born with all that knowledge we all learn things someday or at some point lol

Well...for starters, the ZR7 is carburated! ;)

Welcome to the forum. a lot of what you're asking is already out there to be absorbed. I suggest typing the following into Google to find topics on this forum: "site:buellxb.com" followed by whatever you want to learn about. You'll be amazed how much knowledge has been shared on this forum. What you may find out is that most people dislike the Jardine exhaust...especially the carbon one as the packing burns out and eventually explodes the can (if not maintained properly). IMO, there are many better choices out there.

Good luck and be safe!
