I took out my Lightning ScG for the 1st time today & put about 80 miles on it. In that 80 miles, I decided that for my riding style, I don't really need anymore power. But I do want an exhaust that will let the cars know where I am. I've decided on a Jardine. In my my past experience with jetskis, 4 wheelers & dirt bikes, if you add a pipe you need to jet the carb & put a higher flow air filter/air box. I've never had to deal with an ECM or fuel injection before. Does the ECM need to be replaced? Reprogrammed? I want to use a showyomoto vented airbox or an equivalent thereof & I've read that if you use that box with an airbox delete kit, you need to use a paper filter & not a K&N filter. Basically, I'm looking for am little guidance here as this is my 1st Buell. In advance, I thank you for your help & advice!

I have a 2003 xb9r and I run a K&N with a jardine rt-1. No open airbox mod, and it runs great. Other will have info on the air box mod but mine runs great only minor popping on decel but I don't mind it! I use ECM spy to keep an eye on it and never had a problem yet. Good luck!

With both of those setups, id suggest tuning. Just so you're not running too lean. I have the pos Jardine and k&n and a race ECM and love it. (03 9r/s)

Op. You can either hunt down a factory race ECM or pick up an ECM spy cable and put a new map on it. If you want to know the most about tuning your ECM hook up with Octo and the tuniversity. Sure its a little spendthrift but if you want to get the best map and understanding of ECMspy he's the guy you want.

Or go to the EBR website and buy a custom mapped ECM from them and call it a good time

The EBR ECM will be custom mapped to your bike and its setup. Sorry for the double post but my phone wouldn't scroll down on my first post.

Any particular reason you want a Jardine?

The Jardine exhaust is better suited to the XB9 then the XB12.

I like the sound & the carbon fiber can. Power I'm not concerned about as I feel it's got plenty enough for me. I just want the sound and to have that sound let the car in the other lane to not change lanes!

Sound waves don't go forward while you're traveling.

Don't ride in a cars blind spot expecting them to hear your exhaust. Being in the blind spot means you're behind the driver and your exhaust is point backwards. You really don't want a Jardine. You will lose torque with putting on that can. Just an fyi incase you hadn't heard that either.

Contrary to popular belief, I'm only 80% retarded. Not 100%. I know where to & where not to ride. I believe my chances are better with a much louder pipe than the factory one. Also, I just prefer the sound of a louder pipe

I've never heard a firetruck behimd me. Crazy sound waves traveling somewhere near 800 mph. I always out run em:D

I had a Jardine for a week. Hated it. Went with the Hawk mod and it is much better and a lot cheaper than the jardine. Just my 2 cents.

you can run the jardine with the k&n without any problems.just dont do the airbox delete.imo the air box delete isnt worth it just adds noise and creates problems when riding in the rain.

I have been running a Jardine for about a month. I like the sound but a performance pipe it is not. Great sound good looks and light weight. I will put my spec.ops back on this summer.

After a bit of searching, it seems as though not many people like the Jardine. Anyone have any experience with a D&D or Keda? I like the dual can style. I've heard the D&D has a great sound but I haven't read aout the performance as of yet

I ment from an exhaust that's aiming the sound waves backwards. Some sound waves will but the majority of it is going back.

Ill spell it out better for you next time.
