I bought a 2009 XB12SCG in November and put on a Jardine slip-on without any other modifications. It runs great, starts great, no problems except when coasting in gear and the engine is winding down without giving it any gas it backfires or "pops" a lot. If I give it just a little gas without accelerating it goes away. Would I be able to fix this with an ECMspy? If so what would I have to do and what settings should I put it at? Any help would be appreciated, Thanks

yes ecm spy a few data logs and a custom tune.
it is leftover gas burning in the muffler.
Had the same issue on mine with my flowmaster i built

Thanks, I am looking into purchasing the ECMspy from ebay but just got some snow, so it will be awhile before I can tune it.

look at motomadness.com
where i got mine was cheaper and he sends ecm spy on a cd
then down load megalog
yay sick this snow new bike with only 6 miles begging everyday for more LOL

I emailed the guy on ebay about his cable and ECMspy because it said it would work on models up to 2008 and he wrote me back saying "Sorry the program will not work with the new computer systems." So I looked into other cables on ebay and found one that said "This cable also works with Directlink software. Recommended for 08 and newer models." Is anyone familiar with Directlink, or know if ECMspy will work on a 2009 XB12scg?

im curious about my set up too. i have an 09 xb12ss and it has a new jardine can on it. and when i crack the throttle it hesitates for a sec and then goes. i would ossume i need mapping done as well? im not trying to steal your thread i just think im having the same problem.

It's coming soon to be released for all XB models & 1125's. ECMSpy Mono

As far as the cable, you're going to need it no matter what - ECMSpy or Directlink. But if I had it to do over again, I'd gotten mine from Xoptiinside.com. He's the guru and the pricing is the same as Ebay.

Hey Stang, how about when you decelerate? Do you get the same popping? Mine runs fine without a hesitation, I just want to get rid of the backfire on decel, guess we will have to wait until the EMCspy Mono comes out. Thanks everyone for the help. Luckily it's cold out so I have some time.

I am in the same boat as "dabears3454" except mine is a 08'Ss and I am planning a 3000 mile road trip in June. With the Jardine slip on it pops alot and I am wondering is the current EMCspy going to help?

Is this "poping" going to hurt my engine over the long run if I just leave it and run as-is?

i have really only rode mine once lol. im not sure if its even had time to integrate the new pipe into itself. idk how long that takes. i noticed when i rev in neutral it will pop a little when its coming down from the rpms. i'll have to check it out more when it gets warmer unless there is a plug n play solution. the dealer said that it would probably take 4 hours of labor to re-map and custom tune my bike on thier dyno. at about 96 bucks an hour thats 400 more than i anticipated spending. so im hoping to learn from here.

I kinda like the poppin noise sometimes.Kinda sounds like a Mustang P51 on short final.Really fun when there are other bikers parked somewhere and you really turn heads to see what kind of machine makes that kind of noise:p
