So the stock battery in my 05 fire bolt finally crapped out on me. I figure it was most likely installed in 04 for an 05 model year which lasting to 2013 i thought was pretty good. I called the HD dealer and its $114.99 [down]

The battery place between Cranberry & Zelie has them for around $50. I priced one then found that my contacts were loose. Still rockin' the original in my 2004 XB! (fingers crossed!)

Thats pretty outstanding that it lasted this long. Ill check out that place tomorrow, i totally forgot about them.

My 05 is still running the original HD battery. I'd be surprised if it lasts this year...but I'm absolutely replacing it with another HD battery. Even at that price. What other battery lasts that long? None that I've ever encountered.

I've had really good luck with MotoBatt batteries. (Have upgraded all of my bikes to this manufacture.)

They are reasonably priced. Do a search at Amazon, like $84.00 shipped to your door.

Motobatt MBTX12U

the harley battery has a higher cca than motobatt, interstate/yuasa. someone on here bought one and had it tested somewhere around 350 CCA even though it wasnt advertised at that.

I have a ballistic li-ion and it cranks great once the battery warms up but the first attempt almost always knocks out my clock and trip odo which is annoying. I can fit an extra pair of gloves under the seat now. I have a 12cell from before they changed their mind to a 16 cell.

Stick with a harley battery. The li-ion really isnt worth the hassle of it resetting the clock all the time.

^I'm not disputing that but can the same be said for other branded batteries? Interstate is advertised at 200 cca and Yuasa at 240. I personally have a Yuasa.

Poses an interesting question at the least.

Its definitely annoying knocking the clock and trips out all the time..... mine started fine this morning now at lunch it burped and lost the gauges

I have never encountered a battery that has outperformed the HD battery in my buell. I have tried all the batteries listed above till my face was blue. I thought for sure I could find a cheaper priced and better performing batt than the stock hd batt. after wasting my hard earned money on brands stating they would meet or exceed factory spec hd battrties. I finally just tucked my defeated tail between my legs and bought the damn HD Batt. that I should have bought all along. Got home, put it in and turned the key... and bamn fired up on the first bump. No resetting the clock, dragging the starter, making clicking noises. SOOOO... Just do yourself a favor and save the headache just buy the hd batt. and forget about the cost and go ride. :)

I replace mine every 3 years no matter if its gone weak or not. I dont ride real far but I do get far enough away I'd hate for the battery to fail. I was told because my (battery) lays on its side that it must be a factory sealed type or it could leak. I was gonna try interstate but they were out of stock. I spent an extra $20 and bought the HD.
-No worries

Well I broke down and bought a HD battery today. The old battery which was dated last year took a shit and won't hold a charge. Put new battery in today and fired right no hesitation at all.....

Advanced auto wanted $95 plus tax I got mine from local Harley dealer for $121 out the door..... kinda sucks but I guess its worth it.....

I hate givin Harley cash but you can't beat that battery. My 03 had the original up until last year. Can't beat that. Replaced with a Harley and works great. I think the bikes
Need a great battery to start, they turn over so hard lol

Bought a new battery today. HD battery. If it lasts as long as the original did it's money well spent.

I knew it was gonna be the HD when I had to do it. I got 7 years out of the original. No reason to replace it with anything else at that lifespan.

$121 bucks with tax. But I knew that going in...
