I'm 33 years old and bikes have always been in my family, but it is finally time for me to have one of my own. I've always loved the Buell, and I've come close to buying one in the past. Found one through Craigslist, and am just waiting for the title work to go through so that I can go pick it up - hopefully tomorrow, but next week at the latest.
It's a '05 SCG in red. It has about 18k miles on it and a few scratches, but for my first bike, that doesn't bother me a bit.
Although it doesn't add anything to the value of the bike, I had the owner send me the VIN, and it is build #21 for 2005. I like the low number, as it would be one of the first 12Scg's.
Anyway, on to the pics I have so far:
From the Clist Ad:

Texted to me from the owner:

I've been looking on the forums for a while, and it will be great to be able to participate as an actual owner soon. I've been a passenger for as long as I can remember:

Welcome. The folks on here are awesome and someone has an answer for just about any question you have. As far as the scratch on the left side of the tank, get frame pucks and make it disappear. :)

That's what I was thinking.
When I view the thread, I can't see the pics I posted - I just see a black box with an X in it. Do I need to change some setting for my profile to view pictures, or is that just because I don't have many posts?

Congrats and welcome to the fourm! Here is mine, same year and color. Got her with 16k a year ago.

Lotsa new guys on here; that's great!

Welcome! Whether you're new to riding, or just new to Buell, I'd strongly encourage you to budget for some rider training (beginner or advanced), & some good riding gear, if you haven't done so already.

Have a great season!

Thanks all. I am signing up for beginning riding classes for May 10-11, so I will have a few weeks to start getting helmet and gear together. I know there are a ton of options online, but I really want to go in person, try it all on, and make sure I get the stuff that fits me best. I've watched about a dozen videos on how to select the proper fitting helmet and so on.

Well the seller backed out on me right before I left to go get the bike.
I've made a deal to pick up a different one tomorrow morning, but I better not say what it is, in case I jinx myself again. Hopefully I will be back up here with good news.

Right click within your pix in photobucket. Select "view photo".

Use that address to post pix.

Here's the first one:

That sucks man, gettin your hopes up like that! Good luck with the new seller, hope to see it work out for ya!

Thanks for the encouragement and tip on the photobucket pics. Everything worked out well, and I am now the owner of my first bike - a 2003 xb9sl. When I get to my laptop I will post some pics.
I am already making up the short list of essentials for it. I'm going to make good use of the search button here.

Instead of using the search button here, go to google.com and in the search bar type in "site:buellxb.com " and then whatever your searching for. It's a much better way to find stuff on this forum. The search on buellxb.com is pretty useless.

Thanks Sirius, good to know.
Here's my new toy!

I am already starting to stock up parts for a color swap. I will have at least the full set of Cherry Bomb and Hero Blue. Not sure if I also want to go Translucent Orange occasionally - I think it will ultimately depend on whether I find the parts at a good price.
First things first though - cheese grater, stock turn signals, and these mirrors have to go...

wow nice buy, for an 03 that thing looks pretty stock. the modding possibilities are endless :D

welcome to the forum and ride safe.[up]

Kill two birds with one stone and get some nice little bar-end mirrors.. you don't have end caps nor bar end weights on your handlebars. The cheap Chinese metal ones are pretty good, make sure you don't get plastic. The color looks good as is, I would put some nice body armor as a higher priority than XB plastics. I recommend the Icon Stryker Field Armor system.. kind of expensive but it turns any jacket and pants into something with good protection. Knee/Shin protection is a MUST too.. saved my ass several times.. you don't want to pay Doctor Bills and take time out from work. I have also found over the years that the more professional you look, the less the cops **** with you. Cops respect safety equipment.. they wear body armor and when they see you with it they know you are covering your ass and that you are not totally reckless.

nice find! that is really clean and stock for a '03. How many miles are on it? Welcome to the forum.
