I just got my 09 lightning xb9 and love it! A great bike and I plan on doing the mod to the exhaust and had a few questions. First how broken in(miles) should the bike be before i do this? And to be sure i do not need to do anything with the ecm? what about the tps reset? What will give me the louder sound(parts)? I also love the headlight mod which i plan on doing very soon. Not planning on much beyond that right now just want it to sound meaner than it does. Anyone know of a good seat as i find the one on the bike a little hard? I also did not get a ownewrs manual with my bike anyone know about the adjustable supsen. I weight about 150 if that helps with the settings. Thanks to any and all for help and love the site. LOTS of good info. Will post a pic of by bikes soon.(I also have a 07 blast)[confused]

Congrats on the new bike. If you go to the Do-It-Yourself section you can find a sticky post on bike suspension. It's super easy.

As far as exhaust, there are a million options. There's an Exhaust thread out there with tons of pics and write ups.
Personally, I'm a hackpipe guy. My bike has decent response and sounds like a beast.

Welcome to the Forum Thunder and Congrats on the bike. :D[up] I wouldn't mod until Break-in is complete. Swap out Engine/Primary fluids for Bike-specific full synthetic afterwards and start modding. There are service manuals available through the link @ the top of this page and Owner's manuals can be viewed for free @ Buell.com under the "Owners" section.

If you're green to riding or haven't rode in a long time, you may feel somewhat sore and a little uncomfortable to the new stance & riding position of the bike. You just need some mileage after setting up your suspension. ;)[up]

Thanks guys. My bike has 1500 miles on it and has had its first service. Is that broke in enough. I am going to do the diy pipe but was wonder what materials make the best sound. I want a low mean sound.

I've had pretty good luck with my hackpipe. Hawk is probably the best bang for the buck if you don't want to DIY.

i would buy the buell race pipe that Dinuns1 has for sale for $350.00(a few threads down "GARAGE CLEANOUT". i have one on my xb9 and they sound real good. not too loud like a spec. ops, drummer or jardine. just right plus you would not have to send in your stocker. on your xb9 you wouldn't have to do any tuning either if you just installed the pipe. great deal too. here's mine

Nice hero blue. Not going to send in pipe but do it myself. On suspension is there a setting that I can leave it on and ride about the same with and without passenger
