I'm running av 2004 XB12s with a stage 1 kit.

Will it make any difference using the original ECM with a race map compared to the Race ECM that came with the stage 1 kit?

Hate to say this...but your question is like asking, is there a difference between apples and watermelons ?

The EBR, ECM has a fixed set of maps in it.
Your stock ECM can be modified as many times as you want to modify it.
Well...I'd guess the EBR's ECM could be modified too...but that would end up being a large waste of money that way.

It would appear from your question...that you might be best off calling EBR and getting their ecm.
Though, I've used the ECMSpy program with very good luck.

Question...what's a "Stage I" kit..?

Maybe Screaming Eagle Stage 1 for sportsters? Seen a couple of refferences to a "Stage" kit, but have no Idea what they are talking about

My local Buell (Harley) dealer called my upgrade Stage 1.

It means K&N airfilter, Racing ECM(EBR) and Racing muffler (EBR) - as far as I know.

And my question was just quriosity: will the original ECM with the race map give the same result as the EBR ECM?

Actually, if it is a "real" EBR ecm, you can tune the stock one to function even better than EBR's, you can't tune theirs, and they give a pretty generic tune, that will function better than stock, but is not specifically set up for your bike and riding style, I am not real slick when it comes to computer tuning, so I took the easy way out and bought EBR ecm, and am quite impressed with how much better it is than stock, but I will "eventually" learn to tune my stock ecm

The Stage 1 Kit is for the H/D bikes.I guess we could call our kits we have Mule One or Buell Stage monster Kits.Sorry all, I don't like to compare our bikes with theirs. Horses of a Different Colors!Watch A Pasture with a bunch of Horses in it Thats Us and well we are as Free as it gets.Tuning or Other we need to watch out cause I just installed the new Vigilantie Tuner on a Road King, and it can switch on the Fly.It was very nice for a big bike. I'll be checking on if the Buells will have this option as well.I must say it was like ECM Spy for H/D bikes.More to come in the following months on that.*Jimi
