Guys were advertising a locally branded helmet for around US$120, incl tinted visor.

Went to have a look. It fits really nice and is comfortable. Reminds me of the Flytrekker ones.
Will have to test it out and see how it goes!

PS - sorry for the crappy quick pics!

Looks more like a snowmobile helmet than a street bike helmet to me. Deff interesting though.

I got an AFX DS39 off ebay for under a $100 & an extra silver mirror shield for $20. great for bombing around town not TOO bad on the freeway. I think these types of helmets look cool (and this one is really comfortable):)

We have 65-75 mph speedlimits in Oklahoma and that MX helmet would not work at all.

It would look cool in the dirt or snow.

Well, mine seems to work fine @ 65. Or maybe i don't know what i'm talking about, i'll have to try it again for the 50th time to make sure:D

I have the Icon Variant, which they claim to have wind tested up to 120mph. I can personally say there's no wind "whiplash" at 130mph with it on the Buell. Most of the visors on the road helmets like this are very well vented to prevent that.

I've got the SHOEI Hornet DS. Way awesome helmet. Better quality and everything and it's just a bit more than the variant. It's also cheaper than that silly carbon variant they just released. I actually got into it with Icon on their youtube page. Like I pissed them off enough about my SHOEI that they actually replied, it was epic.

+1 I also run a hornet ds. Best helmet I have ever owned and it does not pull in the wind like u think it would

How is it for ventilation? I rode today and it was 14° f I've been looking at this helmet along with the variant. Does it have a wind block by the chin?

Mine is def not snowmobile - we don't even get snow here, but it probably all comes out of the same mold in China somewhere... I like the Shoei DS helmets, but they are over ZAR4000 (more than US$500) over here and way out of my reach.

There are other locally branded helmets, such as the Spirit range, but their peaks are too long and they don't fit well.

This one will do the job just fine. I still have my regular Shoei I bought a few years ago.

Yeah that's what I love about it. It's semi angular but SHOEI does all that hardcore wind tunneling stuff when they design their helmets, pure genius.

The vents are great. You can also take the lense off to accommodate goggles if you're gonna do more dual sport stuff. And yes they come with chin curtains. Replacement ones are only like 6 bucks too if by some chance you lose it or it wears out.
