Hello everyone, name is Leo and I'm from Italy (but live in Virginia).

I just bought a 2006 Ulysses that has pretty much not been ridden, sitting in climate controlled storage for the last 2 years. 1100 miles in 5 years! I have experience with wrenching (used to race an 888 Ducati 10 years ago) so I know the difference between a rim and a seat, however I would like to get your input on what to check, modify in order to enjoy it to the fullest.

It just got the 1000 miles service a week ago, so fluids and the "regular" stuff should be ok (I'll still check it).

What do I NEED to check, and what mods SHOULD I do?

Glad to be here :)

I should probably add that I've done my homework, I've read probably 50% of the treads here, heat issues, alternator issues, bearings recall and stuff is something I've read, but I would like to get first hand info in one single post that I can keep up to date without going crazy :)

Check out our do-it-yourself mod section, lots of ideas in that area. DIY Section

I would go for a ride and let us know how its running and how you feel about the ride so that we might be able to lead you in a better direction.

Welcome to the site!

Ok, a little bit more specific questions after spending some more time researching:

power output, I read official figures @ 103 hp at the crank, then I read other figures in the 85 hp range on magazine tests. Is that the rear wheel power or is it the crank power and official figures are pumped up?

I also read that in 2008 the rev limited was increased by 1000 rpm or so... Is that just software or are there substantial differences between the first egenration engine and the later ones?

What I woul like to know is what are the main differences between a first and a last generation Ulysses and what I can update.

Is that the Ulyesses that was for sale on the Washington DC Craigs List in Odenton MD for $5K? I live in Northern Virginia.

@ gater yes! I live in Alexandria, where are you?

@ d adamas, so all Ully's from the first till the last generation share the same performance figures? Don't the later models rev higher?

Hey Leo,

I am in Warrenton VA. You need to buy a Factory Bull manual for the Uly also hard bags and the comfort kit.

What did U-Haul charge to rent the trailer? I would have road it home for you. You will find that your seat will get warm. Don't let the bike idle for long periods of time it will get HOT! That bike dose not like to sit still it needs air flow. You will enjoy it.

Ciao Leo! ;) Welcome to the forum! I like the all black look on your bike. Let me know if you want to outfit your Uly with some 5-0dro Axle Sliders as one of your first mods!:D
