Welcome to the Buell looney bin... According to your post is seems like you have found the place you are looking for. Don't forget to ride the hell out of it and inform all the uneducated on what an awesome piece of machinery a Buell really is. Welcome.

All I can say is amsoil is what Erik used in the factory so in my (not so important) opinion I would say amsoil is the best for the bike. I would think the man who built them knows best. With that being said there are tons of other oils that work and others swear by but the above was where I got my logic.
There is also this if it helps. http://www.buellxb.com/forum/showthread.php?49617-Oil-Poll

thanks, going to do my 1st oil n filter change this weekend, found some OEM Buell filters at my local HD dealer, now the big question the has been asked 1000 times over on this site...synthetic or not? I have never use synthetic oil in my big v-twins, and never had any problems, but this is a Buell, almost everyone seems to say synthetic, I live in Pa. and try to ride all year around, as long as there is no snow, ice or salt on the roads, I want to put in what is best for the bike, price does not matter, I would rather spend money on oil than a rebuild, any help would be great thanks!!!

you're up in richland, PA and plan on riding from this point thru the winter? go with 15-40 this time of year

Yeah - the torque on the oil drain plug is ALL wrong in the manual. Wish I had had that information when I bought my bike. Try like 10-12 ft. lbs instead of the manual-specified 26-29 ft. lbs.

15-40 in both holes? Also what weight in the warmer months?

living in southern PA it cools off in late october to high 50's during the day and we'll get some nice high 40's riding days right thru Christmas. in those temp ranges and if i'm servicing one of my XB's or a customers' XB and know it is going to be ridden in cooler temps i'll use a quality 15-40 in the motor but always run amsoil 20-50 cycle oil in the primary year round. there are tons of choices in the 15-40 range regarding quality oil....rotella-T very popular and priced right.
