If I just throw in a new performance air filter do I need to remap the ECM or do anything else. It just seems too easy that I could swap out filters and have better performance.

I'm just thinking if a $50 retail air filter made that big of a difference on it's own why wouldn't it come stock.

I always think it's too easy whenever I put a K&N in one of my vehicles. but that's all I did on my 12S. getting 3mpg better doing the same riding, and bike runs just the same as it did before

The manufacturer uses the paper filter to cut costs. A NEW paper filter performs not too bad but it would make a lot of sense to put the performance air filter, performance oil filter ect.. but all of that adds to the overall cost of the vehicle, any vehicle. If the manufacturer can get away with using a 3$ disposable paper filter, than he will, anyone would.

50$ is a good investment on the air filter.
