Kajer's "on-switch" on a Firebolt?

I've narrowed it down to about a dozen projects this weekend but I'm hoping one of them is finally getting my HID's installed.

I didn't want to do the time delay mod and I plan to use the stock wiring but what I did want to use is Kajer's method of using the flash-to-pass switch as an on-switch for the low-beam.

Has anyone done this on a 'bolt? I'd just like to make sure that there aren't any significant differences between the Lightning and Firebolt wiring.

Thanks!

Im confused. When ur brights are on, isnt the lows on also? Iv always thought having the flash to pass button set to cut the high beam when its on would be awesome, but was told it would be pretty impossible

Thaloc - nothing is impossible...but I lose interest in sorting out wiring within roughly 15 minutes of cutting open a harness.

The low is always on. Flash to pass momentarily activates the high beam, letting a European driver know you'd like to pass them but generally just annoying North American drivers, or having no impact whatsoever. The high beam switch activates the high beam so that both low and high are on.

Kajer's mod keeps the low beam off at startup unless you push the flash to pass button. At that point, your low beam will remain on until you switch off your ignition. High beam activation is not affected at all. The goal is to reduce the strain on your HID's which don't take kindly to the on-off-on cycle they go through on your typical start-up.

So is there any way to have it so just the lo-beam is on?? I keep my high beam on all day, so I partly understand the desire, but on the random occasion that I'm on a busier back road or the highway at night I always switch it back to just the lo-beam although it doesn't sound like this setup allows for that.

Low beam only remains functional. You turn high beam on and off with the high beam switch. All this mod does is keep the low beam off at startup, until you push the flash to pass switch. If you leave your high beam on when you turn off the ignition, it will still be on when you turn the key back on, but you can turn it off normally whenever you like.

is there a write up for this mod somewhere? i tried a search and didnt find what i was looking for. a like would be awesome! looking to try this out on a bolt too!

Not following you xtremelow-the only thing this mod changes(by my understanding) is stopping the low beam from coming on with the ignition. It also disconnects flash-to-pass but otherwise the high beam is unaffected.

I'm not sure i understand this mod...How much longer does a set of HID's last with this mod, compared to the normal auto low beam on? Seems like alot of extra work on an already medium difficult mod.

Zombie thread!!!!!!!!! Also partial double post. So on the Kajer diagram where do you cut the yellow wire? In the housing or by the connector in the harness?
