It happened. I went low side after hitting some gravel on a curve. I was going about 40. I actually made a new user name for this post, because I'm pretty embarrassed about the whole thing.

I'm wondering what to do next. The cosmetic damage isn't a big deal. The radiator shroud took the brunt of that. I'm going to take it in to have the forks and front end inspected, because the handle bars are a little off. I'm mostly worried about the engine. The idle just seems off. The rpms seem to flutter up and down more than usual on a cold start (1600 to 1200 range). I rode away from the crash, so the bike works and it seemed to ride ok. What do you think is wrong?

good to hear your ok.since i dont know who you are or your mechanical abilities taking it to a shop is the next step.
everyone goes down the only thing that would be embarrassing is not having the proper gear on.

My protective gear is what kept me out the hospital. I don't understand how people can ride in shorts and a t shirt. Just not smart.

I'm somewhat mechanically inclined.The main problem is that I don't have a stand, so there is only so much I can do.

Harbor freight sells a rear stand for around $25.

I'm 99% certain that the front end is fine. One of the bars were bent when it went down though. Pretty easy cheap fix

What range of rpms do your bikes idle at after a cold start? Maybe I'm just paranoid.

Bike should idle at 950-1000

Glad your ok too, I was also down on friday, I had someone speed in front of me going into a turn (10-15). I hit gravel to avoid putting it down in the middle of the turn and ended up in grass. Got a fractured thumb out of it now on top of some scratched fearings, destroyed helmet and gloves. The part I love is how no one stops.

Ahhh the dreaded loose grave on asphalt.
that worse than a rabid dog staring you down as you travel down the road.
in the mid west spring is the time you see a lot of loose debris after winter.

i live in miami. my bike always idles around 1050rpm

I think I found the problem to the idle. The rear 2 intake valves have black crud all over them. I think they may be damaged or bent a bit also.

Sorry, but my dumbass needs some more help. I was about to get the bike back on the road, but I just had to mess with the forks. What do I need to do here?
