Laser-cut custom heelguards

Mornin'!

Hmmm.. Seems like this idea is picking up some momentum among the members of the forum..

I guess it can't be helped. If enough of you guys are interested in getting a pair of the EBR-pegasus/honeycomb
heelguards, or the brassknucles, I'll be forced to react to the demand.. :) 50 or more should be sufficient.
Also it'll effect the price range.. If you read the thread, you'll know I'm from Finland, so shipping and handling IS going to have an impact on the final price.. Unless you live in Helsinki, of course. Then we'd meet in person. ;)

First run will have to be for the XB frames (sorry 1125 & 1190 owners, I'm still sourcing the dimensions, etc.)
For those interested in the rear set also, I'm measuring the parts tonight, and making a test run later this week or early next week. The other models are coming, rest assured. Ulysses probably isn't applicable, by the looks of it..

The material for the EBR's would probably have to be 2-3mm thick steel, stainless/carbon, not sure yet.
Aluminium is such a bitch to clean up after the laser cutting has been done, but if Al is what you'd prefer,
then that'll be put into consideration. Anodizing probably isn't going to happen on the preliminary run, but
I am looking into it.

Let's get a list going, guys!

You said your still trying to get dimensions for 1125 guards, could someone just trace out the 1125 heel guard with hole location on a piece of paper 11x8.5 paper scan and post it up for him to print out. It would still be in scale so should work?

Hey, it's update tiem.

Cosworth It seems that the 1125 model is generating interest, that I'm doing as dflack001 Dave suggested.

Mud...guess I missed that, my bad! I didn't really read to much into this thread...I wonder if its worth getting a set of 1125 heel guards to be sure you have the perfect fit?
So yeah, I'm purchasing a pair of 1125 heelguards from eBay in order to get the dimensions just right.

Also, brass knuckles heelguards are available in brass and steel.

A thought springs to mind: Is using the official EBR logo going to stir up some shitstorm on immaterial rights or trademark issues and turn this thing into a horrible patent law case? Any input/ideas on that matter?

I'd probably offer a one-off shape/design run for 40-50 bucks. Or €'s, as I'm in rainy
Helsinki. =)

Sorry i totally skipped over this post ... And 50 euros runs about $68 ... in case anybody was wondering ....

Quoting myself here..

Because I'm not too keen on starting a copyright infringement mess with this. I'll contact EBR to get their view of the matter, but it's unlikely that stuff like this will be possible without proper licensing.

Like I said earlier in the thread, I'm not really interested in the business aspect of this endeavour. Sure, everything costs money to make and giving shit away for free isn't in anyone's best interests, but... you know. The costs might get really out of hand, if this goes thru all the proper channels, which I'd actually prefer to do.

I'd really appreciate your input on this.. And if all else fails, maybe the good people contributing to and lurking in the thread could come up with an alternative design, which appeals to all? Something else related, but not plagiarised, suspended in the honeycomb structure?

there is a reason nobody makes parts with the Ebr logo....
