i'm wanna buy a new pants and jacket
but i can't choose between leather or textile

i have a xb12 and use it for fun driving if the weather is good and to drive to my work

i prefer textile. i just bought scorpion duece armored texile and a shift textile jacket...love them. comfy and protective.

Leather holds up much better when sliding. That said, a lot of the newer textile stuff holds up well enough to keep your skin on too. I prefer textile, especially for cold riding because the leather turns into a cold/hard shell that can rob your body heat. Either way, you'll be fine for the most part. Mesh is where you really start risking your skin. Mesh breaths great, but most of that stuff doesn't last long against the road at 60mph.

If you like shredding corners and screaming out of them - go with leather. (There's a reason why all race suits are leather, textile does well, but not compared to leather - especially in the higher speeds)

If you plan on carving a few corners and commuting to work mostly, might go with the textile. But just my 2 cents - I'd go with perforated or vented leather. You just never know.

I have a leather jacket, never wear it. I Also have textile jacket and a mesh jacket. Seems I wear the mesh mostly. It's the most comfortable to me. I dont race, tear up corners or do anything but commute around the city though. My favorite mesh came with a rain and a cold weather liner, which, is actually warm enough for 40 degree nights. Personal preference I think. Shop the closeout sections of some of the websites, get both!

I like textile. I don't ride in the rain constantly like I used to, but getting stuck in a rainstorm and having a leather jacket that's wet for 3 days isn't my ideal situation.

Both!! Check out the shift streetfighter jacket. I've been riding withthat for about a year now I love it!!

i'm going with leather[up]

i like icon but can you attache the jacket to a pats?

and the icon pants doesn't have the kneesliders so can i attache a icon jacket to a alpinestars pants?

I have an icon textile jacket and mesh pants from alpinestars, the can attach but i never have i just keep the pants with me incase it cools down.

i just got a speed and strength jacket, its got textile on the arms up to the shoulders and mesh on the chest and back with armour pockets all inside with a water proof liner and little belt attach things

I got a closeout Mesh jacket for the in-town warm weather stuff where I know I'll stop an go a lot (Firstgear Mesh-Tex - lotsa places are closing it out CHEAP).

I also have a really nice black leather Dainese for the longer rides. It is just as cool at speed as the mesh and I like the 'feel' of it better, but it just isn't as practical as my silver mesh-tex.

Having said that - my next jacket will be a Vanson full perf. Man they are SWEET beyond belief... I kinda hope EBR commissions another Vanson Jacket, I'll buy one in a heartbeat.

Leather is really good for protection... From the road and elements... But it's hot!

I just bought a textile jacket this weekend so I can stop cooking my internal organs during the summer! They all have pads where you need them since textile will shred in a slide.

So if you want warm, leather. Cool/breathable, textile.
