Hey guys,

Sorry to start a new post but I haven't been able to find one of the older ones for this item. I am upgrading/changing a bunch of stuff on my bike and currently am looking at changing the tail section. I want to remove the giant blinkers and think that an LED light with blinkers is the way to go. Aside from XB lights (which are more than I would like to spend) does anyone else know a good place to purchase a similar, but cheaper, system. If there, is there a place to get the whole set up with built in adapters and relays so I don't have to much more to do than just pay for it, plug in the electrical lines and screw it on I wouldn't mind paying a little more as well.

Thanks for the help.

Aside from looking to change the light and blinkers I am currently changing out and ordered are:

New CNC adjustable levers
Pro Grip 724 grips
Right side air scoop
and potentially bar end mirrors (not sure if I will like the look of these or not yet)

I think XBlights is the only place that has the integrated blinkers besides DIY options. I think the price is pretty well justified - but I too am holding off for a little bit. The wife said $225ish for a taillight is a bit steep.

i found an XB one on ebay for $20USD last week.

i got my one from Canada for $90usd shipped

keep an eye out on ebay or craigs list. I'll try find the link for the $20 one and post here

Hello, my name is Robert. I'm the owner of XB Lights and build all my lights.

You actually have a few options for an LED tail light with integrated signals.

Of course, I'd say go with XB Lights, but I understand the reservations, it isn't cheap by any means.
( each unit is hand built with good quality components and utilizes 2 current regulation circuits with various other safety circuitry. There are 2 main circuitry boards in each light, one for all the LEDs and another for the regulation circuitry, and possibly a small 3rd board if license plate LEDs are needed)

Anyhow. Choices I know about..

- XB Lights
- Clear Alternatives
- American Sport Bike (Heavy Cycles brand)

Out of the above, I would only recommend XB Lights or the unit from ASB.
(I've never seen the Heavy Cycles light in person, but I have only heard good things about it)

Clear Alternatives has to be the weakest light I have ever seen in person, well besides a smoked lens with a red
bulb.

I can't tell you how many folks have bought a Clear Alternatives light and later bought one of mine and could not believe the difference....

Try sticking with a light that has 4-prong LEDs, the cheap 2-prong LEDs don't get very bright.
The Super Flux LEDs (4-prong LEDs) are generally a good deal brighter.

Or you could always go the DIY route and build your own... Hell that's how XB Lights started, I wanted a super bright light and built it... And then others wanted one too.

I've built hundreds of lights (403 to be exact) and each light still takes me roughly 5 hours to build.

And a personal tip, stay away from the smoked lens, it just blocks too much light output of any light.

Ride safe!!

PS. This light output is from my smoke lens. Havent cared to put my stock red one back one. I also have my turn signals on the board.

Avoid the first one at least! That is the one I removed from my bike with 4 leds not even wired to the pcb! IT was also very dim as seen in the photos.

I believe the first one in those posts is the one that came on my bike when I bought it off the PO. I can also say, it's very dim and I'm going to be replacing it soon.

Thanks for all the information guys. I am still contemplating what may be best to do since it sounds like the cheaper ones tend to be not as visible. Maybe I will just wait till the riding season is done here and have a second look around or contemplate working on a new light myself.

Everyone, thanks for the all info about the different options. It says a lot about the forum members and their commitment to just helping everyone out, (especially Rash777777 noting other viable options outside of his own product.) It has also greatly increased my interest in your lights. Once I save up some more I will look around again but something tells me I will probably be leaning towards getting the XB's.

i decided to go with the xb lights stuff.... his customer service was beyond great and im sure if i had issues he would be more then willing to take care of them.

I also want to mention he was upfront about his tinted lense limiting light output. now being that im a body man i have tinted many many lights. so hes shipping me one of his personal lenses so i dont have the down time(i ride regularly) for me to tint to my standard and ill ship it back and hes going to install it for me.

Also it looks like his eliminate the cheese grater which is a plus for me. going to be well worth the money as long as the parts are very quality. theres a reason why a lot of oem manufactuers charge and arm and a leg for LED lights

I can say that Robert at XBLights is great to deal with and has a quality product .Well worth the cost.I don,t know about ones with turn signals, but the tailight ,brake light combo I bought for him this spring is great, definatly gets someones attension when you get on the brakes and the tailight is much brighter than stock. My buddy thought my brake light was stuck on, till I touched the brakes.

I want to second that statement. I recently received my tail light from Robert at XBlights.com. I'll concur that it's more expensive than some of the cheapo lights on eBay, but I will also say that it's worth every penny!

Not only was the light brighter than I'd expected, but installation couldn't have been easier! I'm talking TRUE plug and play. I lieterally removed old light, plugged this one in place and voila! Installation complete.

I DID run into a few issues regarding flash rate, etc, however after installing the LED flasher relay, all problems were solved. Throughout the whole process,Robert was available for tech support and I can't say enough about the customer service I'd received.

If you're at all considering an aftermarket, or integrated tail light, do yourself a favor. Buy this light and buy it once. You won't need a soldering iron, or a degree in electronics to install it, and should you need customer service, you'll have it right away.

You won't find a brighter, better built light, on top of that (and this is important to me) it's MADE IN AMERICA. Can't beat that amigos.

Anyways, that's my plug and my .02 on the tail light, yes the price is steep, but the quality can't be beat. Ask anyone who has one, you will NOT be sorry.

PS. On his site, he also has a couple promos, or something like that where you can save I think it's $30. Just one more reason IMO. Best of luck amigo!

Thanks for all the compliments above!!

I really appreciate it and I'm glad your thoughts of XB Lights are so high!!

There are a handful of options out there, just find what you like best and fits your budget and give it a shot.
Or do as Loki and many others and build your own. It can be a fun project.
Hell, that's what started XB Lights. I built my own and posted a how-to on BWB. I then received a bunch of emails "please build me one" haha.

I should note the one in the how to thread is as basic as you can get. The lights I sell are all current regulated with heatsinks and various other circuitry safeties built in.

Thanks everyone!!
