Does anyone own Traxxas trucks? I'm lookin at a E-Maxx and wanted to know if anyone has input? Thanks!

I own a rustler (electric) and a 4-tec nitro) not sure on E-MAXX though. Whats your main plan of usage?

i was heavy into R/C for years and ran alot of different trucks/buggies but only ran nitro..... i know, that's no help. but, i did love my T-maxx. lots of aftermarket parts to the point it's almost endless.
and i was very happy with traxxas service department when i had warranty issues or questions.

^ no i was debating nitro too so it does help. i was told by a friend that electric is the new way to go tho, just charge and play. i like the idea of nitro for speed and power but electric is supposed to be still fast enough and easier for maintenance.
basically i just want one to use on my dirt bike track, around the farm, and just for fun, their pretty sweet lookin!
on the otherhand E-Maxx was just the better electric that Traxxas sells so i was thinking it probably keeps up pretty well

i had a few friends that ran the E-maxx and were very happy with them. same chassis as the T-maxx just electric. there is just something about the sound, power and smell of burning nitro that i loved about it. on the plus side of electric, you don't have to worry about engine break in and tuning.

My first one was a revo 3.3, loved It, but the constant tuning and cooking glow plugs was a pain in the ass. $4 a shot on the glow plugs too. Then I got an 18th scale x-ray that is a badass little brushless 4x4 carpet racer. The latest one I got was a rustler vxl brushless. That one made me shelf the nitro truck. The revo was a blast for backyard bashing but the rustler got used more because of the speed and the ease of the electric system. I think the lipo battery cost almost as much as the truck did tho.
My neighbor had a nitro t maxx and he beat the hell out of it, they are super tough! IMO electric is the way to go, if you can afford quality batteries.

I just bought a Stampede VXL and Rustler VXL. Absolutely love em. So much fun. Me and my little brother in law have played with em non stop for the last 4 weekends. Broke some stuff but they are easy to fix.

so do any of you recommend a certain electric model other than the E-Maxx? i figured for the chassis and everything if i bought upgraded batteries it would be a little easier to take care of and easier to keep running, i dont plan to run it a ton, pry just something to fill in a little extra time here and there. figured electric was the way to go for that

I'd go with either Nitro or Brushless 4wd, whatever you get. It really depends on what kind of car/truck you want and what size you want. If you want to jump it, I would stick with a stadium truck or buggy. Monster trucks can jump, but their heavy weight causes them to break more. But Revo's are really nice, that's the only "monster truck" I'd get.

I'm a HPI fan, so I would recommend looking at www.HPIracing.com. I've had several and they've all been awesome. I've had a MT2 18SS for years and I'm very happy with it.

Had a T-Maxx that I beat the crap out of all the time. Working construction gives you some awesome "arenas" if you will, to play around on weekends. Def a fun toy. If you're looking for something easier to just "go" with though, an electric could be fun. I agree with the other guys though, the smell and sound of a nitro was always cool.

I sold my T-Maxx about a year ago though and if I were to get back into it, I think I'd go the route of a Stadium Truck or Buggy. More speed and still have the off-road capabilities. IMO, the best of both words. How's the Jato? Anyone know?

Just my .02.

I have a mini-revo VXL and a rustler VXL that's has the maxx suspension and tires.

I run lipo batts on the mini-revo and life batts on the "rustler"

You can see in the pics how small looking the mini-revos tires are.
But they are both FAST!!!!

Brushless electric morors are THE way to go!!!

The mini is bullet proof. ( besides that one time with a trash truck.. Haha.

The "rustler".... Well I've never actually been able to run a battery down before something breaks. Itll snap the cheaper steel drive axles. I spent $60 on 2 higher end metal axles that have been holding up well.

Just use caution with the lipo batts and they're fine. And they add a good amount of ummphh to the motors!

Im a nitro guy, have a Revo 2.5R and a Revo 3.3 in the basement and a HPI Savage. The revos are a blast, the savage is a beast too, running a aftermarket big block in it, roll on power wheelies and total insanity. I prefer the Revo over the Savage tho, its tuff as nails and I find it easier to get parts for, HPI I find you tend to need to buy several parts in a pack sometimes to get the 1 part you actually need.

Have you looked into the Stampede MotoX6? it is a great deal around $400 for the truck, control, and battery all in the box. Really quick (around 30mph) with the battery it comes up, and 50mph+ on a Lipo. I researched for a while before I bought my Stampede and Rustler.

I wanted the VXLs because they are brushless and waterproof. The stampede is a great little truck, 4wd that can go through almost anything.

Rustler doesn't have much ground clearance stock but it is real fast. 40mph out of the box and 60+ with a Lipo.

I personally just wanted electric because ya charge the battery, ya play with it, ya recharge it and repeat. Basically no maintenance with the VXLs. Keep em clean and fix whatever parts ya break.

I have some Videos on my iPhone of the Stampede and the Rustler from the past couple weeks, I can send them to you if you want

I haven't messed with RC stuff since the Associated RC-10 days. Sounds like the battery technology has improved a bit.. Thanks for the thread. Just what I need....another hobby!

^^^^ Haha. I had a RC10 and a RC10T. Sold those MANY years ago, but I still have a RC10T2 and RC10T3. I need to put a brushless system in my T3.

I have the full size e revo with two lithium 11.1 packs an it's fast as hell. Only complaint is it needs some stiffer foam in the tires.

yeah i guess im gunna go with an electric for sure. litho batteries but CANT decide on a model. i like the emaxx, erevo, but a mini model might be cool to. geez how do ya decide lol
