I performed a lighting tail swap on my firebolt, and i tried to use as many bolt parts as possible. Including the seat latch. I read some where on here once that you have to grind down the seat 'u' hook in order to get it to fit properly. Well i did that but my seat wont lock anymore. It locks if i slam it down but then pops back up if i tug it just a bit. Any ideas? I wanna keep riding but i dont want my seat to come off while riding and me with it. Should i just keep grinding o rshoudl i suck it up and find a lighting seat latch?

The latch (in the tail, not on the seat) it locks into has probably bent forward just a bit...bend it back into place (if the bracket the latch is on attaches to the ecm like on my bike, you might need to hold the ecm to get it to bend back) and it should lock into place again.

sounds like you ground it down to much. it has to push the locking mech. far enough to spring itself into the latch position. try pushing a screwdriver down into it. if it works as it should. you'll have to wrap a piece of aluminum can around the seat post to fatten it up a bit.

Maybe try lifting the latch up a tiny bit higher. It sounds like the latch isn't pressing far enough down into the latch. Hard to say without really being able to see it.
