Lightning/Firebolt clutch cable interchangeable?

Buellxb Forum

Help Support Buellxb Forum:

Local shop only had a Firebolt cable and season is going fast in NY . Will the Firebolt cable work on my lightning xb9s?

bolts cable is about 6" shorter than the Lightnings...I'd say no since doing a S to R conversion on my Lightning

Why is it so difficult to find a clutch cable for my 2003 xb9s? Only place is asb and don't want to pay $17 for shipping on a $57 part. Anybody know where I can get another damn cable?

I posted the part number and the cheapest I found at a dealer in your other thread.

NO!! I got a Firebolt one for my Lightning due to dealer pulling the wrong one. IT WILL NOT WORK!!

Iron Valley in Pa. or Schaeffer's in Pa. will have it or can find it, but you'll still have to pay shipping...that is just how it is. I'm pretty sure you won't drive anywhere and get one for the $17.

The cables will interchange but it won't work for you because the Firbolt cable length will be too short for the Lightning. The Lightning cable is longer then the Firebolt. For example, when I put on handlebar risers on my bike I swapped out the Firebolt cable for a Lightning because I needed a longer cable.

The Firebolt has this ugly looking metal housing right at the lever with a stupid bend in it IIRC. It is also a real bitch to get down thru the tree. Trust me....I put it on, thinking it was the right cable, just a 'revised' version. After putzing around about an hour trying to figure out WHY it wasn't working out, I gave up and called the dealer the next day. Then found out it was a Firebolt cable. Just pay the freight and get the RIGHT thing!! :D
