After wrestling to remove and replace my battery a few times (I live in a condo and don't have AC power where my bike is parked, so to charge the battery I need to remove it), I have determined that I don't like that struggle. Too many fasteners to remove, the contortion act to fit the battery through the subframe cross piece, the stretching of the rubber hold-down strap, etc. Bah!

I am considering a P3 Lithium battery from Full Spectrum Power. It would be physically smaller, making the R&R a simple process, much lighter, and even has more cranking power. WIN, WIN, WIN. It is more expensive, though.

Does anyone have one? If so, please share with us how it is working out. Does anyone anticipate any problems if I were to make this change?

Thanks for the tip. That product has the same specs and is much cheaper!

Btw, I realize now that the dimensions of the lithium battery is nearly the same as the lead acid battery along the tight, fit-under-the-subframe axis. But "slightly smaller" is still "better." :)

Question: The link you provided said that it should not be used on a motorcycle with a parasitic draw, such as an alarm system. I usually do not arm the Buell's built-in "theft mode."

As such, does the 1125CR have any (other?) parasitic draw on the battery when the key is in the off position?

Bump. Just thought some guy's could use some good battery info again. Riding season is coming up soon :p

Hey guys, I had the lithium battery on my 1125r and is a good battery. Its not great but is good for sure. Problem is you need the undertray for the battery because it actually mounts to the undertray. I have the undertray and battery for sale. The battery was $400 and tray was $200, i think... I can sell both for $400 if you cover the shipping. I could even throw in the mini subframe if you want it. The battery is very light.. I think less than 1 pound. And very small... Half the size of regular HD battery..let me know. [email protected]

I don't understand what you mean by "you need the undertray for the battery because it actually mounts to the undertray."

You're saying that the lithium battery you bought couldn't simply sit in the same location, held in place with the same rubber strap, as the OEM battery?

I bought thru Eric Buell Racing and when I was gonna order battery, I was told that undertray was needed as well. I was gonna do the same thing but battery is SMALL,.... And when I got the battery, i was glad i did get undertray because the battery mounts perfect and has plenty of room for all the extras.

im selling battery & undertray because Im in process of switching tail section to a xb12scg tail section. I cant use undertail with this setup.

Sorry to pester you with questions, but what "extras" did you mount in the undertray with the lithium battery?

I mounted all the stuff that is in the stock undertray. Let me see, the battery of course, the electrical regulator, the solnoid for alternator, i think thats what it was, the fuse box with the breakers-fuses and stuff, etc. If u have an 1125r, look in tray and everything converts over. And I had the solo tail conversion so no passenger seat and soooo much room I could pack it full of all kinds of stuff, if i was able too.

My new Shorai lithium battery has arrived. I'll be installing it this week and I plan to post a report (good and/or bad) from time to time.

One thing I can say now: it's LIGHT!

lithium batteries are 'crazy lightweight'. I was blown away when i felt how light they were. If i cant sell mine, i may try and rig some kinda regulator or something to run 2 batteries under seat because i run alot of extra 'electric stuff', -LED's, GPS, Radar detector, etc.

That dual battery idea sounds cool!

One thing that I am curious to know is how much current the ECU draws with the key off (to run the clock and/or anti-theft mode).

Another thing I noticed is that (after who-knows-how-long on a shelf) it arrived from the factory with a 13.4V charge.

good question. im not sure but i had bike sit for like 4 weeks without my battery tender and battery would NOT start bike. As a matter of fact, I had bike sitting last couple of months and finally finished my 'conversion' a week or so ago and plugged in battery to charge it up and afterward when I went to start it, the clock had reset to the wrong time, my pin for the theft setting went back to 0000 and the odometer began reading 000. My odometer now shows 300+ miles because ive been riding it but actual miles are closer to 9000 miles. Im puzzled????

it was the harley/buell battery that did that. EBRacing said the cluster may be bad but 2 warranty is up. i would have to come up with funds and not sure how much it is. It rides fine for now but just reads incorrect mileage.
