Are you talking about the clutch cable boot? Seams to me that would be a fucking warrenty issue for sure. If you dont have a warrenty it still need to be addressed by Harley and fixed. What are you going to do?

Damn that is some nasty stuff!! did you find out what caused it? what is this rubber boot you speak of?

yea, the clutch cable boot..Im 95% positive it came from the rubber boot.. I pulled it over the summer and water cam pouring out of it ... I just didnt know it would travel to my primary case...

I do alot of city driving (short trips) think it could have caused any sever damage?

It rode fine, I was just taking precautions by checking it before spring comes.

should I take any precautions before adding fresh oil? ie. flush or something??? or just add...

and is the color normal for oil and water and maybe a bit of rust colored water from the boot retaining water?

Randy Hawkins mentioned this
Take a little clamp like how you would fix a hose only alot smaller(screw one so you can take it on and off if needed) and walla

The boot on the adjuster for the clutch cable zip ties work well there.
just put the drain plug in flush it with some brake clean rock the bike around drain agian
refill

I think you superimposed the pictures for your living room new paint color with your oil. I'm not sure you could get oil that color and it still work?

Man that it some ugly stuff. It isn't suppose to look like that. Probably a good thing you checked it when you did. It could have led to some bearing problems later.

2 zipties on the boot. Refill with oil, run in a little bit, drain and re-fill with fresh. Oil + water = not good.

Yes brake clean has a high achol content it evaprates quickly.
Oil blended with water is super sticky.
Don't run it but a can with a straw will help got most of it out of there.

I called the stealer-ship here in chicago and the guys tellin me that he sees it quite a bit and it not a warranty issue?? WTF ![mad] [mad] [mad]

Yeah, not a warranty issue... although it is way common, there is no factory fix... hose clamp the top of the rubber boot covering the clutch cable adjustments, lube your cable, and put some silicone where the clutch cable enters the primary... thats about the best you can do... otherwise... just keep your oil changed often and dont live where it gets wet ;)

yea, I figured out that thats all I can do... I called the Warranty dept and under provision 5 article 2 section 76 and paragraph 4.. lol.. it does not cover "water intrusion"

Do you put the hose clamp on the rubber part right where the cable goes into the primary? Do you have any pictures of what you are talking about.
