I went from transparent blue to Red! I bought an extended windscreen from eBay, and lowered it over the headlights for the "Angry Eyes" look. I was most surprised at how well the paint matches. I just a can of automotive formula rattle can red from Autozone, I still have the red front fender and chin fairing coming this week. I like the Red!!

Sweet baby Jesus, tell me you didn't paint hero blue plastics?! It does look like a nice paint job.

looks nice, but you should have put the translucent plastics up for trade and got red ones, bummer man:( I'm sure someone would have traded or bought 'em from you

No I bought a red airbox cover also from ebay also.Haha I only painted the fiberglass windscreen, It came in a white gelcoat. The hero blue airbox cover is in rough shape though with broken front bolt holes. That is why Iwanted to change it up.

shhhhhhewww...my bad...:p

with your mad skills, think you can salvage the blue airbox? add some sheet metal to mask the holes maybe? is it crazing from the bolt holes, able to stop drill the cracks?

Honestly, I'd feel guilty selling it. That first photo is after I first got it. Since then the buell logos lifted and peeled off. How? I dunno? The x-pad fell off, leaving that hideous super glue residue. A friend of mine spilled goof off on it...that stuff eats it right up. So I sanded it down with 1000 grit paper and polished it, it's a lot better but not crystal clear like it should be. I could fix the holes with a sheet metal caps and small button head Allens...or someone else could, but It's been thru a lot :( I was going to use it as a base to work off of to design a fiberglass cover. I've wanted to experiment with fiberglass for a long time now.

I hate when people paint their transparent plastics! It chaps my ass ! That right there was sarcasm folks! It didn't phase me when I painted my mint condition hero blues. I tried trading with some folks on here but their version of "great shape" was way different from mine so the deals fell thru. Besides i'm pretty sure I paid for my plastics and find the translucents gimmicky and I can do what I want. Just saying!

Figured I'd post a pic with all the red plasics complete. I got the chin fairing mounted this morning. Drilled out the rivets and used stainless 6mm button head allens to do my own rivet elimination kit. Cost me about a $1.50

what did you paint your cases with? Ive gotta rotate the lump on my 'bolt this winter to replace the RB gaskets and figured I'd paint my cases black - the factory color doesn't match anything else and is just fuhgs in general. I assume you sanded and primed? I'm also hoping to pull off as nice a wrap job as you got with your pipes. Looks like you went bottom - up instead of top - down which is nice.

@mtnmason the primary covers on the 9's are black from factory. The 12's are the tan'ish color from factory. As for the wrap, I actually did it top - down, starting with the front head pipe to the merge section, then the from the rear pipe all the way down. I did tight wraps, over lapping 2/3 on the previous wrap (if that makes sense).

@thrstrmech both of those are next on my list. I ran out of spending cash. Lol I don't want to cut up my factory one, so I think I'm going to go with the diesel moto fender eliminator. I also need to remove my WARNING stickers. :D

Oh, and I got the LSL Rider Footpegs from EBR. Took some fitting, filing, drilling to get the peg angle right and the pin to slide through smooth...but I liked that I was able to fit them how I liked em, instead of them being to sloppy, or bad angle on the peg stop.

[cool] Last year I was planning on getting another stock tail piece, belt guards, right hand scoop, new Sunfire yellow windscreen... to have all the original parts on hand, have kept all the other stock parts that were taken off. Broke the belt guards and right scoop removing 'em cause I muscled 'em off:D and gonna keep the S front end also after the S to R front conversion. I'd like to get black wheels or other color that would go well with the gray frame and yellow plastics...not amber and shelve/sell the stock polished lips, tired of having to break out the Mothers polish:eek:
wish I had photo shop to do some mock ups and try different color combos with the wheels/frame/plastics :D
