Looking For A XB12 In Ut, Id, Nv, Wy Anywhere Close!!!!

So for some reason within the last two weeks, I have acquired the want for a Buell. I haven't even rode one yet, but this weekend I'm taking my buddies for a couple days. He has an 04 Lightning XB12. Buell's here in Utah are selling for alot more than what they go for near the east coast I've noticed.

I'm wanting a 1200 lightning and those seem to be extremely rare for even a decent price, so I started shopping around on craigslist and found this one: 05 Buell XB12s

I've been emailing him and everything seems legit and the bike sounds really clean. Here are the pics he sent me

Anyways, It's a 500 mile drive just to go look at it, and he said he's firm on the price of $5,000. It's bone stock and he said there's no extra's he's giving with the bike. What do you guys think?

Is this the only Buell within your area? 1000 miles (round trip) is a long way to go for a bike. If you go, I wouldn't come back empty handed. Did you try cycle trader? If that is the closest Buell and you really want it, then do what you got to do. Me, I'd look for something closer.

I haven't tried cycle trader, I'll give that a shot when I get home. There are a few local bikes, but for the same 5 grand I would be getting either an older xb9 or a Xb 12 with over 10k miles. I put a link to the classifieds in Utah. See what you think of those bikes. I would love an 09 for around 6 with under 10k miles. I would think that's doable. The good thing about this 05 is that the guy won't be back in town for 2 weeks and that should give me some time to think about what I want and do more research. I've already. Been lurking here for a couple weeks

i bought my 9r with 17k on the clock, and its doubled since ive bought that, its ran like a champ besides some new oil lines, and VR last fall

not exactly bone stock. appears to have different bars, grip ends missing, stock mirrors gone, rear signals gone, tail chopped off, perhaps more. have you tried searchtempest.com ?? it is quick search for craigslist. just uncheck box for ebay search when using it. and consider one here on the east coast where prices are lower and bikes more plentiful. if it's within 50 miles of lancaster, PA i'll be happy to look at it for you. i've bought a fair share of transport bikes thru the years and had good luck with all. something to consider.

Thanks guys! I'll give those sites a look now. I wouldn't mind a little higher mileage bike but it would have to be is superb condition. I've been a mechanic for almost ten years and have seen what people can do to their vehicles. Batman, that's a bitchin bike! What's the details on it? Oh and I keep forgetting to say that I'm not new to the whole bike thing. I've owned an 02 zx6r and an 08 r6. I've also rode dirt bikes my whole life. I sold my r6 over a year ago and want to get back on a street bike. I'm hoping the buell will be a little more comfortable and fun to ride.

That is a sweet bike! What is the differences between models? I've seen r, s, ss, scg, sst. Here's a link to one in Colorado I'm thinking about too, but the higher miles scare me a little, and the fact I will be driving 500 miles to see this one too.

How many miles r on the bike u looking at? Mine was a 06 xb12s 2k miles same color and i gave 5k for mine. It had chopped tail and knight design pegs on it alrdy, it was worth it to me but i didnt have to go no 1k miles to get her. GL on yur hunt for a bike.

ChuckieE, the one in the first post is still for sale. It's an 05 xb12s with 3k miles for 5 grand. Bone stock for the most part. If it was located somewhere cool I wouldn't hesitate to travel the 1000 miles, but it's in freakin Wyoming. The most flat, boring, windy place ever. He must live out in the boonies, seeings how it's been for sale for over two months.

MrFantastic22, I'm starting to gain patience now, and realize I would be better off waiting and getting something closer and with a few mods already. Could somebody give some rough prices on the most common mods? Tail lift, exhaust, tail eliminator, etc?

kbfnail, I saw that one, very nice looking bike, but out of my price range. The absolute most I want to spend would be 6, and it would have to be an 09 for that price. Thanks tho!
