I found a used 2006 blast with 31,000 miles on it. I wanted to check with the experts on here to see if that was too many miles or if it is acceptable. What are some things I need to check for? The bike is not the prettiest and apparently the foot shift lever is missing and the bike is in first gear. How do I go about putting the bike in neutral to start it up to make sure it is working? How much is that part and where is the best place to find it?
I am not new to riding bikes and just wanted something easy on gas and fun to ride around town.

I would really appreciate any input.

Are the splines that the foot shifter go on still there? I dont imagine they would be missing just odd the shifter is gone. You just need to either carefully use vicegrips to put it half a click up into neutral (just for startup purposes) or buy a foot shifter. Look on ebay for a replacement or post up a wanted add here.

I would be hard pressed into spending alot on a blast with that many miles, lower mile blasts can be had for fairly cheap.

Thanks for the reply. In your opinion, what would be a fair price for this particular bike? Assuming that it runs.

In my area (Houston Tx) They usually hover around 1500-2500 for low miles usually around 3-7k miles. Theres one right now for 2500 with only 1600miles.

But in not running/unknown condition I wouldnt pay more than 500 or so... And to back that up theres another in my area that need the primary chain put back together for 650obo with 10k miles.

I would not buy a Blast with that many miles. I think that you can find them so cheap that you can afford to be a little picky on condition. A clean fair mileage one in my area of VA is about $2000.

Around me a month ago, Harley had an 09 Blast with 1300 miles listed for $2500. I've seen used ones between $1000-2000, depends on condition and miles, and not on the year it seems.

Thanks for the input guys. The guy wanted 600 for the bike. So I figured it was a decent deal. Maybe try and get it down a little more.
