So, last week I decide to take apart the front, re-wiring my HID & Halos a little neater, along with re-taping and putting new wire loom all around just to make everything look nicer. While putting everything back on (finally) tonight I noticed the relay on the right side had a ton of rust on it (actually it was rusted into the connector). So I took it off, sanded the rusty plugs down, sanded the connectors some and continued to put everything else back together.

Now, I've never had any complaints about my XB9R (which I've had over a year now), power has been okay, no major issues, etc... but I didn't expect what happened when I went for a drive after I had everything together.

The bike felt completely different (power wise, as in, holy crap, it wants to bounce the rev limiter pretty damn fast now...) taking it for a nice drive down the empty highway at 11pm, the bike was not the Buell I knew, it was mean and awesome. As thrilled as I am, I sit here wondering if it was indeed that relay I cleaned off or something else...

Any ideas?

you would be astonished how easily it is to steal power from an engine. especially when dealing with electrical. a little bit of corrosion can make a circuit work much harder than it was intended. congrats and enjoy.

If you had been riding mostly hotter days and then went on your night run, that may be a factor also. Because of the time of year I would assume it was a nice cool evening and the change in air density will make a substantial difference.
