Used Lucas Oil 20w-50 synth here for an oil change. First impression is that it seems to run a lil quieter than mobil 1.

Has anyone ever put this in the primary?

crash is correct but from what their info briefly says for 20-50 on link you provided it is rated for wet clutch applications and primaries so you should be fine. now if we can just somehow morph this into a "oil recommendation" thread that would bring Lesley out of the sack.

I say stick to the mobil 1 in the primary! I bash my ride since the switch i see much less metal shavings in my oils.

That is my recommendation! [up] now torquing your drain plug im not an expert on this.

I put lucas high temp race synthetic in my swingarm, and valvoline "v-twin HD (for wet clutch applications)" in my primary. The lucas definitely quieted my engine down, and i would have put it in the primary, but i was already at autozone reading threads on my phone in the parking lot while i was on a ride with my brother. we stopped to have a smoke and i was flipping through threads, you can get a qt of the stuff i use for like $5 and i believe the primary only takes 1qt anyway. I'd just save yourself the trouble of even possible malfunction and just pick up a qt of oil designed for wet clutch apps.

though, since this stuff is "motorcycle oil" and says it can be used in primaries, i'd say that it's perfectly safe to use in the primary.

I'll tell you what I put Mobil 1 full synthetic in last weekend and the bike is definitely more noisy... sounds like the bottom end is going... guys at work say don't worry about it.... its a Harley ... Idk what that's supposed to mean but I don't like it..... it sure does run fine though......

I've been running Lucas full syn. 20w-50 motorcycle oil for the last 12,000 miles, bike likes it a lot and I get it for just under 10.00 quart at my local O'rillys.

OK I did it. Lucas full synth 20-50 in the primary. Rode it for a half hour, everything seems fine, smooth shifting. Probably better than the HD formula that was in there previously, looked kinda dirty when I drained it. I'll let everyone know how it fairs after 500/1000 miles.

i have used lucas for about 7 years now in primary and engine, definately smoother in summer. i dont run the syn only the petrol. i have had good results

I'll be putting Lucas in after engine build up, have been using Mobile 1 in the past two oil changes, agree on being noisy and also seems to run a bit warmer than before
