My question is would it be a good idea to pull the rubber out of the front isolator mount and weld in steel/aluminum what ever the mount may be made out of?

My reason for possibly trying this is the rubber inside the mount tends to rip causing the motor to sit a lil lower. but what i am unsure of is, if i replace the rubber mount with solid metal would something else possible break??
I use my bike for stunt ridn, has a full cage all the good stuff. The problem is once you dump the bike a couple times those rubber cores in the mount rip out.

let me know what you guys think?

If you're talking about a Buell Main Motor Mount....with the vibrations that Beast puts out, I would think you would need all the rubber mounts you could have to keep from possibly damaging your motor. The rubber absorbs a lot of the vibrations off the motor. Have you looked at maybe different rubber compounds? I was a Tool/Die Maker for 10 yrs. until they put me into Engineering. We used a lot of different rubber compounds in our Automotive dies. They all had their specifics. Here's a link with a short comparison: Rubber Compound Comparison

They do use solid motor mounts in Drag Cars, but that's just so all the torque and power goes straight to the wheels. But it's heck on the Motors.

I guess if all you're doing is short rides & stunting, solid motor mounting might be alright. But if it's a daily commuter, I wouldn't want to do it.

Anyway, just my 2 cents though..[smirk] Whatever you do, ride safe.

the vibrations will kill the mounts...without the rubber it will also translate to the bike and will make it almost uncontrollable. [smirk]

i kinda figured that but decided to ask you guys first to see if anyone had any good ideas, the big problem is i just need something more durable. as far as front isolator mounts go.

they are wear items, when they no longer function, replace. what year is your bike? the front isolator was redesigned in '06-07 (forget which), its much beefier than the old style.

you dont want a rigid mounted motor in your XB, as mentioned, bad things will occur. on the mild side... let the motor droop on an isolator that is no longer functioning and go ride for an hour straight. you will absolutely hate the bike. the vibes will put your hands and feet to sleep in no time flat.
