ok, so today i put in my new FAST intake, removed the air scoop, and threw in some new ngk plugs. only problem is now, my bike is backfiring on Deceleration like crazy. Engine ligh came on as well. Went down to the local stealership, to have a TPS reset. The local tech said the backfiring was from the exhaust valve being stuck, and a TPS would not solve the issue. Is he right, or lookin for $$?

remove the fast intake untill you can remap you ecm...you are killing your engine!

^^^ Agreed, but where did you find a FAST intake? I thought they don't make them anymore.

im not riding the bike since the backfiring. and when you say remap, you mean a tps reset? i also bought a racing ecm from the dealer. so when i get my new can,i'll install the ecm as well and have the tps reset.

i made one from a Special ops heat shield, a K&N filter, and a round rubber piece i found in my garage.

no, remap is installing a new map on your ecm so it will adjust the fuel to the extra air getting in.

if you have a race ecm, install it now.

but if you use a fast, you'd better get a remap...

I'm looking at doing the custom FAST like filter using a cone K&N, don't mean to hijack your thread but post some pics up of the filter and heat shield installed and if you can the rubber piece you used. Question with this type filter and breather reroute would getting a custom map online from say Xopti Inside be fine or do I need to find someone nearby with a dyno to really map it out specially for my bike?

so lefox, your saying if i run my FAST, race ecm, and a jardine, a simple TPS wont set it right? im still goin to have to remap?

Dyno is Always the best, but Xopti is a close 2nd.

Yes. The Race ECM isn't able to fully compensate for the changes from all those mods combined. I mean you could ride for awhile, but you'll slowly be hurting you're motor. Plus a custom map is fairly inexpensive compared to the cost of the actual mods, and will only add life and power to your bike.

Good deal as soon as soon as I mod the air box, hopefully this weekend if I can decide on a filter solution, I am going to get Xopti to make me custom maps, I am unsure of any shops nearby that have a dyno and I am sure they will want an arm and a leg to do maps for it if I can even find a shop that will map it for me. You think I need to get a stand and set the static timings before applying custom maps? Good luck Patrick hope you get yours straightened out.

Could someone outline what is involved once makes Xopti makes A custom map? Is it sent E mail?

ok, so i went into the shop today, and had a tps reset. helped out on idle, but i still have the backfire. The tech said it was just too much air, and suggested a dyno tune for the fix.
Sooo dyno tune next week if the $ is available....

Question, I have a crackling sound after I release the throttle, not so much as a BACK FIRE but more of an crackling sound. Just always thought it was because of the exhaust. Is this normal?

Oh and in addition, I am running Buell Race exhaust, Race ECM, Breather re-route, open airbox, and a tfi unit.

why would that be an issue?
and just a side question real quick,
will a bike still start if the plugs arent screwed all they way in? could this be the source of my backfiring?

why would that be an issue?
yea, isn't as good and you pay too much for it.

depends on howmuch you mean 'all the way in'
with the compression on the 12, it's most likely they will get blown out.

if it's only one, you'll loose compression in that one cylinder but possible run very rough on 1 cylinder.

ok cool, its probably not the plug then, i just cant see in there to make 100% sure its all the way in.
thanks for the info lefox.
