(Text taken from my “build out” thread but wanted to let everyone know my experience…)

Purchased some carbon fiber parts from MDI Carbon.

Result? Complete failure.

After 7 weeks of waiting, only received 3 of the 5 parts ordered and they are all jacked.

Front fender does not sit square when mounted. It's slightly to the left from the rider's view.

Rear fender, well, was just wrong. I think it's for a XB12Ss. I was very specific in my order to indicate I have a XB12Scg.

Finally, the chin cowl does not line up. I would have to dremel one of the holes to make it fit.

Indeed complete failure. And now I'm getting the runaround from MDI to get my money back. Maybe I'm being an a$$ but I asked for return shipping (their dime). They won't do it. And I have no idea what is the status on the two I still have not received. They are no longer responding to my emails.

They suck. Do not buy from them, ever. [down]

I went ahead and purchased all my items from ASB. Should have done this from the beginning. In stock and will be here within 5 days.

I had the same experience, waited almost 3 months to get my 2 small parts. Its a real shame I really like the matte finish carbon fiber.

sorry to hear about your luck. Its hard enough to put money to the bike instead of everything else to run into shit like this. :(

that rear lower carbon fender in your pic is real crap. i would have been extremely pissed off to open the package and find that turd in there.

Thanks everyone.

I too like the matte finish but if the parts are all a POS... doesn't really matter.

[sad]

I would be pissed to looks like crap and can't believe they are selling that shit to people. Rear fender looks really bad and out of shape.

i had the same experience, i ordered a gloss 3k carbon twill XB12SS seat cover, price was $15USD more from ebay than on their site. they agreed to drop the price. i paid the amount they stated and forwarded their own email to confirm. i waited 3 weeks then got an email saying i paid the wrong amount and needed to pay more...! w t f !!!!

explained the situation then all ok.

waited waited waited. 3 months later i decided to call them, they said the order was on its way, they could not provide me with a shipping number or even if it had left what ever warehouse they order it from.

decided to wait another couple weeks. called back after 4 months and advised their service wash shi*, i had not received the item and wanted my money back, they insisted it was on its way and did not want to refund my money, i laid a complaint to ebay over them and got ebay to chase up the refund. got my money back 6 months after initial purchase... never received the item.

i did get a fiberglass one from Solo Buell but i had an accident and it was not repairable.

still after a carbon 3k twill XB12SS seat cover.

F*ck MDI...!!!!!

I paid via PayPal. You only have 45 days to file a claim. I filed on day 38 or 39 Was not going to chance it. PayPal has already agreed with me for a full refund. Just need to have the items above in their hands. Shipped it back today. Will arrive with MDI on Thursday. Then I'll see what happens with my PayPal claim.

^ I agree, I was just being a smarta$$ :D that fenders fugly

My biggest frustration was waiting so long, And I had to contact them to even find out they didnt have any of it in stock. They should at least note or let me know there is going to be a wait.

For me, I knew there would be a wait of 3-4 weeks but when week 6 was approaching is when I wondered WTF was going on since I had nothing from them.

It fkn sucks when this happens and mate have the same issue going on with my other bike and an exhaust system . I don't see how sellers can get away with this shit . Good luck in getting a refund champ .

Their website seems to offer a lot of carbon fiber parts for may different types of bikes. And it seems to be all sourced from China. They are southern California based. My guess it's not a large operation here in the US, just logistics on order placement and fulfillment; i.e. process the online and ebay orders and get them filled from the production factory in China. (And also dealing with a-holes like me ;) when orders get delayed and all jacked up. Doh!)

No problem. [up]

But I dunno if the packaging was the reason for the front fender not being straight. I think was just made that way. The parts had some flex but I would think carbon fiber would retain shape. Maybe not, just a guess... I will say it was not thick carbon fiber. It'll be interesting to see what the American Sport Bike pieces are like because they are almost double the cost.

I can't believe this shit. I just received notification from PayPal today, 20-Jun-2014, that MDI had sent the final 2 items to me. WTF? Now I will have additional return shipping costs to incur. I can't remember the last time I've been this pissed. I told MDI on 18-Jun-2014 to not send the other items; I would not accept them. They shipped them today, 20-Jun-2014. [mad]

I wish everyone on the board would read this and just never consider buying from them.

[mad] [mad] [mad] [mad] [mad]

Thanks oh9.

Contacted PayPal and they said they (well, someone maybe MDI) will cover my return shipping costs. If that does happen huge kudos to PayPal.
