Occasionally when under small amounts of throttle, my engine seems to misfire or preignite or something that makes a resonating "clang!" type sound anyone else experience this? Seems to be in the first half hour of riding, I've been attributing it to not being up to temp?

Also, the bottom end of the engine is sounding odd at idle. There's a "ruh, ruh, ruh" sound and it's almost like a chain driven bike sound (like when you're near one or riding one down the road) like metal on metal. I'm confidant it's NOT the primary chain, that's running in Royal Purple and it's got correct tension. The bike has 35k on it and I know it's high but why is that? A car with 35k on it is practically new, how could this be bearing or contact surface wear at that millage? And what specifically do you think can be done? Run it until it seizes then rebuild it or forfeit this season and rebuild it?

It runs smooth and pulls hard otherwise.

Thanks

noise is probably pre-ignition. most likely from carbon or some other intense heat source in the combustion chamber. i only assume this because of the mileage on the bike. you can try a seafoam treatment to see if you can get rid of some of the carbon deposits. that might help.

the bottom noise might be the primary chain guide wearing out. have you checked the condition of it?

Mine was making a loud click the other day when I was wheelying. Thats buell for ya. Only got 14k miles.
