Let me just preface this post with the fact that I've read a lot of reviews about tires used on Lightnings for sport touring and city usage (no track) and I recently got a flat rear tire on my '08 XB12Ss. I also have the upgraded '10 wheel with beefier bearings, so I'm in the market for new tires.

I'm currently using Michelin Pilot Road 2CTs which are excellent tires, but curious if anyone has any recommendations for a better set of rubber.

Well I love my Dunlop battlax! but they're more of a proformance tire. Multi composition. And if you want to never worry about what the bike can do get these and go as hard as your comfortable with. And Idc what other people say I'll keep buying new tires once or twice a season. For that kind if peace of mind.

I'll assume you mean 'Bridgestone', right?:D

If so, then I'll second what you're saying; I prefer the dual compound Battlax sport touring tires too. They have nice neutral turn-in and good wear life.

Regardless, on the street, there's really nothing you can do, no matter how hard you ride, that requires pure sport tires, whether we're talking about Michelin, Bridgestone, Dunlop, or whatever.

2ct's are dual compound. I run them. Put them on and never looked back. 6k with no chicken strips, rode in all weather conditions, still plenty of life in them. No complaints.

Hah **** I sound like a good source haha kidding but yes I totally mean bridgestone battlax And huh I have had a real damn hard time getting as much traction in a straight line and even curves but more in straight line I get way less wheel spin and faster heat up time with the battlax. 2cts are a harder compound (In the middle) and just doesn't compare for me. I guess I should say I run my tires on a 1125 not xb too.

These are what I run on my 9SX as well....I DO like them. Great lasting tire, good ALL AROUND performance. In SOME aspects, (wet and/or COLD roads specifically), I liked my Scorpion Syncs better. But....seems they are hard to come by. And since running the Michelin and getting the milage I am out of them, with all the performance that I PERSONALLY require, I'm happy. Tires are like this....try several....run what YOU like. Not everyone like Maxwell House coffee......:D

Yes, that's an important point. On an 1125, and especially on litre bikes, you probably want a full sport tire, at least on the rear, to handle hard acceleration. On a relatively moderate horsepower bike like an XB however, sport touring tires are more than adequate for the street.

Hey guys, so the verdict is between Bridgestone battlax and Michelin 2ct. I had a Pilot road 3 lasted 3 months only. I am ridding a 03 xb9s with xb12 headers, xb9 race exhaust, and computer. I do long rides in warm weather, also I am looking to get a 200/50/17 on it.

I'm sure you'll never get a verdict on a tire thread, but in my experience both are fine tires, but the Bridgestone wins on price & tread life.

I was leaning towards pilot powers but we have a lot of dirt and rough roads up here i run dunlop d616. my buddy bought the 2ct and made it a week and had several punctures.

I have about 3000 miles on a set of Bridgestone Battlex BT023 and I like them a lot. barley any tire wear maybe 2 mil and they perform very well.
