I tried to search but could not get anything useful. So how many miles have you got on your tires? To make the info useful please include answers to these questions. What tires are they? What is your riding style?
I just got 3200 miles on a rear Corsa III. Riding style is agressive (wheelies almost every ride and 75% of my riding is on canyon roads) The front of the same tire looks to have about half its life left.

Not sure if the penny test applies for bike tires. Put the penny in head first and if you can see Abe Lincoln's head its time for a change (no pun intended).

Rule of thumb. Wear your tires down until there bald. This is when they perform the best. When you see belts its time to change. :D

I recently replaced a Dunlop Qualifier on the rear with a Bridgstone Qualifier 016 (triple comp). The Dunlop had roughly 3k on it with a flat spot but also began to split which prompted me to change immediately. I've also noticed that some of the older tires will dry out regardless of how many miles you have on them...Seen this more on fronts than backs. ...Hope this helps for your comparisons.

Ya I agree with the old tire thing. This was the first tire on a brand new bike that I bought in Feb. I did not look at the serial number on the tire to see if it was old stock that was thrown on a new bike but I could not have been that old. This is my fist sport bike and I thought that I would get closer to 5000 miles out of a tire. I am not complaining just curoius if I am just hard on tires or inline with everyone else. Btw the tire was slick to the point where I was staring to worry about threads showing soon.
