Navy. 10 years Active. 3 Years Reserves.

Got asked to leave the Navy at 10 years to work as Contractor in the DoD sector still supporting the Fleet. Signed up for the Reserves the next day after my EAOS. Spent 3 years as a Contractor then was asked to join Government Service as a GS. That was 4+ years ago. The Reserves kinda got in the way with my Gov job from time to time, decided to get out completely and buy my time back. Put it into my Gov Retirement and moved over TSP and 401k funds.

Total Government Service time is at 17+ years and counting. Going for another 13 years till 30 years of Service at age 55 then I am done.

I joined the army in 1979 as a E3 with an airborne/Special Forces option. Was 21 years old at the time and spent the next 26 years in some type of military, either guard, active, or reserve. It allowed me to re-invent myself and I have made some lifelong true friendships. The greatest privledge in my life was serving in the army and defending this country. Would not take a million dollars for the experience.

Yes serving this country is nothing short of great and sometimes hard. The Hard part is to me the most rewarding/1978-2004 USMC started out in Force Recon. I'm pretty sure they were trying to bust our chops down to the bottom & did a darn good job of it!. Got creative later on and I must say it is for some people and some don't like it and will do whatever to leave my beloved Corps. Heard that a lot over the many years(26)lucky to have the same Wife. She was Navy and I just wouldn't leave her alone.I wouldn't take a million for the Experience as well.Ride Safe.*Jimi[up]

Enlisted in the Marine Corps right out of high school not really having any direction with my life. Was in from '95-'05 and loved every min of it! Started out as an 0311 and ended up a 0369. I wouldn't be the person I am today with out that time - best decision of my life.

Navy, navy specwar, security contractor, family man, business finance consultant. The last two were the best decision I ever made :)

Active Army 19D Cav Scout for almost 4 years now, still have a few more to come. Deployed with 3ID South West Baghdad 09-10. Just got to Germany and hopefully will have the bike up soon and take some nice rides around the country.

IYAOYAS from the Bataan! 18 years Navy. It's been a blast. Amazing how time flies. Can't wait to start a second career and settle down.

I know we've got more Coasties then that!

I was 3rd generation USCG. Unfortunately I didn't make it through training. Broke my ankle and got a med discharge. Biggest mistake ever! The only reason I'm not upset about not being in is my daughter. Im glad my ankle clicks now lol
