i gotta get rid of the rabbit ears!

I saw the post about the different bar end mirros that are available but my questions are:

1. can I take off the whole bracket for the mirrors or are there going to be parts left?

2. if i can't get rid of the whole bracket, do people usually plug them up? (where do i get the parts) or do they get new bars? (where/which ones do people get)

3. once i pick out the mirrors, do I need to pull out the current bar end that connects to the handguards on my sx? if i need to replace those parts, where do i get the replacements to use with the bar end mirrors?

4. since its likely that I'm going to remove the plugs at the end of my bars for the handguards and basically make them unusable. when i tried to pull them off last week, I noticed that the screw is also the pivot for the handles, does anyone know what the part number is for those pivot bolts on the other models without handguards? (or is there an aftermarket replacement part that i can get instead of going to the stealership?)

hopefully this makes sense. let me know if you can help me out.

can't get rid of the whole bracket. The levers attach to it.

Just plug the holes with black 10mm bolt. Button heads look the cleanest.

3 and 4 kinda go together.
If you want to keep the handguards, you can get hardware from americansportbike.com that will let you do this. If you want to lose the handguards you will have to get factory lever pivot parts. Buellpartsguy (heretofore known as BPG) will have part #s and will be happy to get the parts for you.

My wife did this to her CityX if you want more details and pics on how to keep the handguards. Cost will work out about the same if you keep the guards or get rid of them. You're buying some extra hardware above and beyond the cost of the mirrors either way.

That's weird mine didn't come with any plugs. I got gyped

Are you sure? From ASB they should be included[confused] I almost tossed them out before I figured out what they were :p Kinda funny, I was thinkin to myself "now what the hell am I gonna fit in these holes? " Then I noticed them wrapped in the bag I was about to toss out, "wonder if these will fit?" :D:D:D

I used 3/4 chrome plugs. Got em at menards for 99 cents I think they look pretty good.[smirk] Yeah I know its not the best picture.

I got my crg's on ebay.

I'm gonna get slammed for this. "PISS ON EBAY"!!! I hate hate hate Ebay [down][down][down] Nothing but a glorified garage sale. Too many scams. I like buying from a store ( if possible) That way, if theres a problem, its easier to be solved. I also could care less about saving a few dollars, by the time you pay shipping, and recieve your screwed up goods, wouldnt you rather have spent a couple extra bucks on something new?

--my neighbor bought 2 playstation controllers off Ebay, by the time he got them and they were paid for he saved $4 off each.

I realize that there are deals out there, but you have to be careful. You almost have to accept the fact that what you buy may be messed up in some way. So weigh the pros/cons before wasting money at the world wide "garage sale" [smirk]

yo BPG where you at? looking for the part numbers on those pivot bolts for when I take off the hand guards!

Link to the CRG Hindsight LS bar-end mirror.
"LS" stands for "lane-splitter" and the mirror folds back to allow clearance between vehicles.
The mirror is ROCK STEADY - no vibration or distortion.

so do you have the bar ends or just connect to the handguard bar ends?

Those are the the crg bar end adapters. I had to buy a set for mine to fit also. They won't work regular bar ends properly. The way I see it if you're going to shell out the cash for the mirrors no point on skimping on the proper bar end adapters.;)

so how the hell do i get the current bar ends out of my bars? (the ones that connect to the handguards)

Pliers.

Mine came out with a gentle tug and twist.
I also wrapped a rag around the bar end so as not to leave plier-teeth marks in the plastic.

The CRG's rock! I bought a set for my XB9R,you get what you pay for.The mirrors are top quality and look great.[up]
