Misfireing once warm

So I ended up taking it to Harley, after a week and 4 days they called to tell me it's the fuel pump. and that for parts and labor would be over $600 to fix. I told them I'd come pick it up so now I'm looking for a fuel pump. Anyone know what I can use or what I cant use? Can I use xb9 pumps or firebolt pumps? Any specific years?

Update: I got my bike back from Harley, put it back together (they didn't) and took it for a spin just to make sure it was still having the issue and it did. One thing I noticed that was differnt was the throttle response was horrible and the idle was really low.

I bought a used 07 xb12s fuel pump off ebay and swapped it yesterday. One thing i noticed was the pump is noticabily quieter. Let it idle(cut off a few times from the low idle) for a few minutes and rode and the same issues were happening. Still no engine codes.
I called Harley to tell them what happened and see if they would look at it again since what they told me was wrong and they told me they werent responsible and hung up on me.

Any ideas here? I'm about to blow this thing up.

Craziness I know, but is it possible you have an air leak somewhere? Disassemble the whole air box and cover over the engine and check all of the rubber hoses and such... I had a sportster that did this exact thing and it ended up being a rubber hose...

Another test too, take an extra plug with you and when it dies, unplug one of the plugs, put the extra one in the line only and hold it near metal on the bike and look for a spark...

make sure the threads of the plug ARE TOUCHING metal... otherwise you may get a nice jolt lol.

Yeah, almost forgot that part lol. But in only lasts as long as you hold the starter hahaha!

I just bought an 07 Uly that is having a very similar issue but it seems to be heat related i thought fuel pump too but it runs fine tell i get in town as soon as i slow down it starts to spuder and die then i wait 5-10 min start it up and run another few min tell it dose it again the previous owner said he never had this issue but he never went riding in the heat i dont think. i hope we can finger this thing out or im tempted to try and get my money back and get a different Uly

Hi there, just joined the forum due to having the same problem on an 08 XB12STT. Rides fine for about 15min then starts misfiring at around 3500 rpm. our local Harley dealership in South Africa is a joke, we started out replacing the TPS and doing the reset with no luck. Now they suggest I should change the entire ignition switch??
Some forums suggest a 10gauge ground wire between battery negative and coil mounting bolt, anyone tried this?

Ok i wound up breaking down out of town and had to take it to the local harley dealership turns out my problem was a bad stater $700 dollars later bike runs great havent had a problem with it since. So stater test might be something to look into i know one symptom is the cooling fan not running when the bike is running because the stater cannot produce enough power to run the engine and fan for some reason there is or was no code shown on my ecmspy for this good luck guys.

I have had the same problem and $1200 later spent at the dealers trying to get it fixed they found nothing. I finally took it an ex harley mechanic who works out of his garage and he looked at it for me. Tightened up my wires and ever since then the bike stopped doing it 90% less... It still does it every once and a while so it's not completely fixed. Wish I. Knew exactly what it was.

Just to finish off this thread.....it was the Cam angle sensor. located on the right side underneith the "Buell" cover.
