i recently spoke with a racer for erik buell. he rides a xb9 lightning. i ride a firebolt xb12r. i was asking him a few questions about my bike specifically in the direction of taking the lag out of my throttle response for quicker acceleration. he suggested switching to xb9 gear. any suggestions what might be a good idea? he did state that i would lose about 10mph off of my high end. just wondering if i can get that slight lag out or would a power commander be the solution? please and thank you

Switching to the xb9 gearing will not change throttle response - it will just change your gearing. The xb9 benefits from less stroke, which can increase throttle response.

Your best bet (well cheapest) is to get a dedicated tune as christian mentioned. Other than that, take weight out of the rotating parts which is a bigger undertaking.

what year is yours and how many miles? a tps reset can help with things. its not the magical cure all that some may make it seem, but if it needs to be done it makes a big difference.

^^ [up] for Sirius. I checked mine the first time, and from teh factory, it was off 2-3 degrees! I've heard the same from others too

Hey look up redrider think he did that to his xb12scg and that bike was a wheelie king!!!Any gear. (9gears in a 12)

Preprogramed ECMs do have some Lag but an Individual Tune of your Bikes Engine will go far beyond a Power Commander. Get with Octopus and the Tuniversity for a better running bike. Make sure she is Tip Top in shape before you tune her. That way you are ready. Yes a TPS reset is always a good area to start this way the bike is ready for the next steps. The Add on Fuel packs are OK for Foreign Bikes and some have put them on the Buells as well. tuning Individually is always better in the long run.Swapping out parts from other years of bikes here and there always has some sort of different affect. Tuning is really the best. Good Luck.Welcome to the Forum. *Jimi
