Anyone care to recommend an inexpensive, yet good stand(s) for me? Having recently purchased my first bike, I've never shopped for one and don't know what to look for, but I'm in the market.

Pitbull is a good brand if you don't know what you're looking for. Cheap ones work (and I have some), but good ones are noticeably more sturdy, if you'll be working on the bike. I have found cheap, sturdy ones as well.

Get spools (or sliders from 50-Dro) and a spool stand (not the pads that go under the swingarm), for the rear.

Get the front stand that goes in the bottom of the steering neck, that way you can pull off the front wheel and forks too.

I found that the rear stand that uses pads to go under the swing arm is actually quite useful because you can remove your back tire to fix a flat or change the rubber. I don't believe you can do that with the rear spool stand because the spools go inside the rear axle on the XB's. My 1190SX has spools that are built into the swingarm, so that is a non-issue there. +1 on the steering neck front stand, very useful for tire removal.

Personally I am using a cheap set of stands that I bought off E-Bay. They are good for washing the bike and swapping out tires.

Good point. I use the spool rear stand on the spools that came on my 1125 swingarm, not axle sliders so it's no issue for me.

Stands are for working on the bike, or storing for winter so a sturdy set (cheap or not) is important.

I use Venom stands, they are cheap, and wiggle a little, but I have built 2 bikes from scratch on them, completely torn down a bike, and countless times my bike has been on it. Sometimes weeks at a time. They were like $120 I think. I got the ones with the triple tree attachment, and the rear pads that go under the swing arm. I have sat on the bike on the stands with no problem, girlfriend sat on it, while I was using a breaker bar to get the primary gearing off. Never had a problem with them. Bit yes, pitbull are much stronger.

I have T-Rex stands, and would highly recommend them. Pit bulls are fantastic, but in the middle price range T-Rex is a really good stand for the money. I have pads for the Buell and spools in my wife's sv. Spools feel sturdier, but in a Buell they limit how much you can do. If you do go with spool, get a stand set that also includes a set of pads so you have the best of both worlds. For a front stand, the triple tree lift pin version is worth every penny. I didn't get that option, and have regretted it since.

I second the venom, 108$ shipped on ebay with the triple tree attachment and pads or attachments for spools on the rear, plenty sturdy for me.

Love the stance of the car pictured on the right. Would like to see a full size of this vehicle. What size is the triple tree attachment? Thinking about picking up a set.
