Muffler painting...

Hi guy's,

My '08 muffler was looking rusty from all the road grime,so I have taken it off and wirebrushed it clean.

Question is, what to piant it with. I have had suggestions of PJ1 to barbicue paint, to powdercoat.

I'm interested to know what you guys think would be best, and have used and know what works.

Just got done with mine because of the same problem. I used Krylon bbq grill paint. Looks great as of now and really cheap to do. There are a ton of threads if you do a search as to the results of powder/ceramic coating.

I'm planning on doing mine this afternoon, I'll probably go with the gill paint as well.

dont use grill paint. vht high temp or any kind of engine enamel will work best.

it doesnt hold up as well. especially when exposed to gas and oil. my friend painted his cbr engine and trans and it looked great for a while but it started to flake.

VHT has ceramic dust in the mix, it works well. I usually touch up the can every year. Looks great.

VHT is what I used when I modded my can. looked awesome

I used high temp grill paint...never flaked and looks good

after (painted with Krylon VHT BBQ paint & pulley lip polished)

installed (belt drive sprocket will get some tlc next since BamBam is still housebound due to snow )

why use grill paint when there are paints made for that kind of application.

you could also use one of these to brush your teeth
