Can i trash this thing since i have removed the stock exhaust and its cable? the elec. plug going into the servo made me think that it would be a good idea to ask first. would unplugging mess up performance in any way?

You can remove the servo, but you will need a servo eliminator as not to throw a code on the ECM.

You can find one here.

No Worries! Someone else here removed their servo, and got the V-Twin light, then was wondering why...lol

With modern ECMs and all their sensors, it's only reasonable to think, if you disconnect something electrical, you'll get a code and the V-Twin light. [cool]

or you can disable it in ECMspy as well and leave it there. no harm done.

I was thinking this too, but it depends on the year model... later '08s and up don't work with the current ECMSpy...yet

Does it really affect anything with the light being on? Is there any lag, sputtering, pinging, etc? Is it safe to do until you can afford the plug?

the light doesnt affect performance.

i was unaware it was a 2008. there are ways around that, but its a lil involved. so in a way...you can get it to work.

What if you are going from a stock '07 12R to a Buell Race Can? I don't think it has a servo. Will I need the Servo Eliminator thing or will the Race ECM handle that? and If I do, can I do the airbox Delete?

My light has been on for over a year. I'm lazy! No problems with mine except for the dealer always wanting to fix it for a fee.

My brother got the new ECM and didn't need the servo eliminator. No light for him.

I ride XB12Ss
he rides XB12R

If you have the stock (non-race) ECM, then you'll throw codes and get a check light unless you install the servo eliminator (or disable the servo check function in ECM Spy as suggested previously). If you have the race ECM, it doesn't look for feedback from the servo, so no check light and you can remove all servo hardware.

If you choose to run with the check light on all the time, just realize that you lose the ability to monitor actual problems.

Am I the only one who didn't have to install a servo eliminator? I replaced my stock exhaust with a Jardine slip on and of course got the engine warning light to come on. I just straight up removed the servo from the bike's air cleaner, no more light. Am I missing something? Please someone fill me in.

Thanks,
JCrane
