Must NOT do mods?

Buellxb Forum

U must have done something wrong, that was one of the best brake mods I did to mine. Mine doubled once I did the Mod. Double check everything and make sure everything thing is right. Bleeder is at the top, all the air is out of the system, lots of easy stuff to over look. Took forever to bleed mine!

It is definitely not bled right. It's probably a air bubble. I should shoot a video of proper brake bleeding next.

I haven't done it myself but have talked to some very knowledgeable Buell guys and they have all told me that the breather reroute is a big waste.

I'd like to see this video. That's the only piece to that mod that's keeping me from doing it. I don't want to jack my breaks up.

I rode my 07 12S for 2-1/2 years before doing the breather mod. Great success [Borat voice]. So I wouldn't just take 'knowledgeable Buell guys' word for it. The mod makes sense.

My bike was almost unrideable before the breather reroute...

Maybe its a function of different bikes/climates/etc.

All in all it costs like $6, takes about 15 minutes, and is completely reversable, so there are worse mods to experiment with.

Built a new front shield out of thin diamond plate and mounts to make a vertically adjustable windshield bracket for my uly. It used an xt windshield and could be adjusted from stock to +8 inches up. It vibrated into a blur and made my visor flip up because of the air from around the forks rushed up into my face. The wind roar and buffeting where unreal at 70+. I still have the parts in a box of shame, never again.

i regret the amount of time i have put into my jardine exhaust trying to regain torque.

also partially regret the open airbox mod. only due to the noise and me freaking out being able to hear all that. i love the way it looks and with my transparent cover it draws a lot of attention.

i also regret wiring in a tomtom gps. i never use it and the wire is just chillin by the handle bars. will probably take this off soon.

chopping the tail is awesome with the exception of how quickly your asscrack fills up with water when caught in the rain. thats my only regret. i should fab a quick bolt on fender. but i never plan to ride in the rain so........

This may sound stupid but I'm 5'6" and I used 1" drop pegs on my Firebolt.

Seemed like a good idea as I like to ride for some length of time. As it turns out I ended up spending the last year shifting my feet around while driving so much that my legs were getting sore. Plus in cornering,I felt that I had to "hold on" more by gripping with my legs not allowing the control lent by shifting my butt.

When you see ads for adjustable rear sets with adjustments like 50 and 80mm and shocks with 25mm of ride height adjustment it doesn't seem like much for your money. But in reality a little change can mean a big difference. I put the rear pegs on the front and zip tied some rubber tubing to hold them forward. Feels right while riding; now I need Standard pegs.

Anybody have a set of standard Firebolt pegs lying around?
:)

Hmmmm.. Let's see. I guess painting my own plastics with rattle can paint was a waste of time. It came out really really nice but once gas hits that tank it's ruined. Cost me about 75 dollars in supplies and my bike was down for a week.

Oh yeah and I tried making my own seat cowl with fiberglass for my ss, BIG PITA!! And that ish isnt cheap either

Upthemaiden-is the translucent airbox thing for real? Is it louder then solid colors? Also, I don't have an open airbox, would it matter then??

I like all the standard mods I did, clip-ons, Jardine pipe, breather re route to water separator catch can, air box delete, racing clutch, EBR brake rotor and race springs front and rear, CGR levers, NGK Iridium plugs, etc. The only issue I have is the ECM remap. Giving me fits!

I'm about to re-map now. I'm a little freaked out...I think i have a handle on it, but the consequences are such a pain.

I wouldnt say this was a must not do mod, but my clutch brembo master was not enough improvement to justify the 150$ price. The brake master is kinda the same story but I do notice a difference with it, albeit for better or worse.
