ok so i got my cord in now along with a hard copy of ecmspy. i already have ecmspy loaded via online, does it matter or should i load the hard copy and remove the online copy? still readin the manual and so far its some fairly boring readin lol. half of what i read is foriegn sounding to me and i just keep readin hoping it will explain itself more as i go. got a brand new stock ecm to put in and then i reckon ill go from there if need be. are there any step by step instructions as in bike on bike off click this click that kinda thing?

Where did you get the online copy? There are some step by step instructions. To do the tests you just bring up the tab and click whatever you are wanting to test.

got the online copy off a link from this site in i think the troubleshooting section. ok cool gotcha more i think about it i think i seen that. i need to go back and reread some thangs looks like.
ill check it out and give an update soon as some progress is made or odds are ill be on here askin dum dum questions. either way im gettin this bike on the rode again if it kills me lol.

Ok you should be fine with the copy on this site. Good luck and post up if you have any questions.

is it possible for a new ecm to be bad right out of the box? reason im askin is ive gone thru 4 of them keep takin it back for a replacement but the replacement has not responded like the others. when ive taken them back for a replacement they check them and say yeah its a bad out of the box ecm. claim they have seen it before. i wonder if i have a short i havent found and soon as i put one on and try to crank up it burns it out. idk any opinions or advise. should i try to get one not from the harley place or what? btw is just a stock ecm.

so bad ground might fry an ecm. ok ill check for this. just in case im the dum dum that i am are there any checkin for bad grounds on a buell for dummies lol. all i know to do is unhook the ground from the battery and use this ihm meter thing to check the fuses under the seat. maybe i am doing it all wrong or have missed something. got my 05 xb12 new and im just now trying to learn something about it. silly me for thinkin if i can change the oil all is well huh lol.

well to update yall my baby is back on the road. i had a few issues, my guess is i caused most of them tryin to figure out what the original issue was lol. both coils got replaced, new stock ecm, plugs and wires, and every dam wire and vacuum line checked. think the bike has been takin apart and put back together since this issue 3 times. totally pointless with all the take down and back together so many times but is part of it i reckon when ya dont know whats what on your own bike.
thanks so much to all with advise and links for stuff. wish me luck with my baby stayin on the road.

hey kids just an update to an old ass thread i made. my scg is still purring like a lioness in heat running through a deep rumbling valley. some things i got creative with are drilling holes in my shorty seat so i dont have wet crotch on a rainy day, added a gel cap seat thing so i dont have itchy ass on a hot day, and put a 2" riser plate on my stock handlebars that makes a short man pushing 50 comfy. i dont bother with the lower scoop plate as it dont do shit far as i can tell but trap heat and grim. im sold on amsoil in this bike for life. i prefer my stock tail and passenger peg brackets without the pegs over the cut back tail cause i use side and top soft bags and it fits better. my calipers have quick bleed nipples and make all the difference. cant say enough about having a quality grease gun and keeping the fittings wiped off. i also came to the conclusion after a couple years of different after market pipes that my buell prefers stock exhaust. i have no comment about the emission components. prolly more but im a burn out and dont recall at this point.
