I have the same thing done to my pulley cover and my pants and boots don't come anywhere near it.

Correct ! No issues with the pullley uncovered but it is not safe... I use to ride with that!

The “adjustments” are just the way you ride it because is now low and long . I feel that is good for freeway but not too god for the mountain curvy roads

it is you need to use be low and the curves are some times hard to take in the beginning.
