I bought this bike in April of 2010 because I wanted a NEW Buell. By New I mean a Brand New Bike that had never been sold. I had bought a 2010 FLTRX Road Glide in Sept 2009 and told my new wife that when it was paid off I wanted to buy new Buell. I had gotten my first Buell in 2005 as a present to myself when I could walk again after being wounded in Iraq. My first Buell was the NEw for 2005 XB9SX in Hero Blue.
I kept that bike for 2 years but then my daughter was old enough to ride with me and I needed a more passenger friendly bike so I got a 2007 NightTrain. After having that bike for 2 years I traded up to the Road Glide and as I said the Buell story went from there. Well as we all know in Nov 09 Harley got stupid and shutdown Buell. So I was faced with a dilemma, Buy a NEW Buell now or never be able to get a New unused one. So after 3 months of walking into my local Harley dealer and telling my wife that "That White XB12R over there is MY bike!!" She finally said SCREW IT buy the darn thing or shut up about it. Well I told her ok and handed my sales guy my lic. Because I already had 2 bikes financed with HD credit I had to go some where else to finance this one. So I told her fate would play it's part here and if the bank said Ya I'd get it and if they said Nay I wouldn't. I was only going to ask one place.
Well as you can guess the answer was Ya!!!
So I got the paperwork done and went and picked up my New Buell.
There was still snow on the pass so I had to trailer the bike home. So onto the rest of the story. I rode the bike off and on during 2009 and was at a Sport Bike Rally in the Fall of 2009 and was loading the bike onto my trailer to bring it home. I had been camping for 5 days at this Rally and breaking in my new motorhome at the same time.
Well while loading the bike onto the trailer I dropped it and broke both left side turn signals. I got busy with life and didn't order new turn signals for a month or so. Then when they got here and I unpacked them they turned out to be the wrong ones. Well winter hit here early last year and I kind of forgot about fixin it until spring. Then spring finally rolled around and when I went out to the garage I remembered I didn't have the right turn signals. So again life got in my way this year and I never got around to working on the bike. Heck I still had my Road Glide and most of my trips this year I had my daughter with me so the RG was it. I did order some new turn signals but this time I decided to go LED. Well when they came in they were larger than what I thought they would be plus the stem size was larger. I wasn't sure I wanted to drill on my bike so again it got set to the side. I bought another set of LED turn signals but smaller this time. Well they got here about 3 weeks ago. So this past weekend I finally got out to the garage to work on the bike. I know I know, how could I let my Buell sit all summer and not ride it??? I feel bad about it too. I only have about 2-3 more weeks of riding weather.
So I had to drill out the holes for the new smaller LED turn signals too. So I braved up and did it.
Then while installing them two of the darn things BREAK. They were CHEAP Ebay lights and I got what I paid for.
So now I was back to using the larger LED's. I also replaced the stock flasher with a LED compatable one.
Here are the fronts.
And then with them flashing. They are as bright or a little brighter than stock. If you look at the refrigerator you can see the reflection from the rear lights.
And the rear turn signals.
