My bike is done finally

Here is a few pics of my bike when i got it and the new paint for it and R tail conversion.

Started XB9s already with R front

Added the pegs for g.f to ride of back. Thats what started the whole R tail idea in the first place. S tails are NOT for 2 ppl.

Theres alot more pis uploaded to my profile incuding the paint recepie I mixed up. When the sun catches the plastics it gives off a goldish pearl flake color to it. I'll try and get some better shots with a real camera not my phone. Now i'm figuring out what to do with the rims. Comments, insults, suggestions welcome as always and thankyou to everyone who has helped me, sold me stuff and offered their advice on this project

I think it would look good blacked out ..paint or powdercoat rims and forks black. Just my opinion..nice bike tho [up]

the only thing i would change is powdercoat the headlight subframe black and colour coordinate the red or yellow. change the screen red.

i wouldnt start blacking out more, as you just end up looking like an 09 model. the bike looks great as is. wheels suit engine cyclinder and other alloy highlights. just compliment it by the headlight subframe and if you really want... the fornt engine mount.

Totally right on that one. I just ordered the HID's and Halos lastnight after finishing this thread. And also been looking for those gold color rims.

What about a smoked windscreen, mix up some of the left over paing and clear coat and cover it with that?

subframe! co ordinate the headlight subframe. the grey doesnt cit with all the black. i am about to do this on mine. you will see i did it on oompah already. (second last page of xb pic thread.)

how much of a PITA was it to paint the frame? What paint did you use? i have an 05 9 so its got the silver but i love the look of the black.

The biggest PITA was the pic where I had to sand out that ding i had in the RH side of the frame and on the LH side of the control arm. I just sanded it down, shot primer, sanded the primer very lightly, then used flat black paint from napa. It has one of those nice spray nozzles on it so it that "feathers" the paint on either vertically or horizontally. DA1605 is the part number. Acrylic Enamel rattle can. That was the easiest part i'd say.

Thanks, i'll keep that in mind. Do you have any worries about longevity seeing how it was out of a rattle can? do you have prior paint experience/knowledge?

prior experience/knowledge...Nope! Just read the info buellybagger had posted up about painting and what other peopel have done. I've been riding it around for a while and my jeans havent worn the paint at all on the side of the frame, I did have a chip happen on the control arm (passenger peg issue not wear related) But its rattle can....rough it up, and spray right back over it. [up]

Also washed it a couple times and Have no worries on it peeling or fading off. I used a ton of primer, and even more of the flat black.

Thanks, i'll probably be doing this before it starts to get real warm out and i want to ride.
I spot a jug of 1.M.R on that back seat. . . . do you like it? I've read nothing but crap reviews

Josh.. Ive used 1.M.R. two times and Ill never do it again. It pumped me up at first and then after about 15 minutes my ears, knees and fingers all felt like they were literally on fire and were red as a tomato. Ive never been so uncomfortable working out as then.
