I was enjoying my ride home when I squeezed the clutch in for a downshift and got a loud clunk and a dead lever instead. Snapped the cable. I freaked out for a second remembering a post about a primary cover breaking. So I pulled over and parked it for an inspection instead of breaking it more. Ordered one from buellparts.net, stuck driving a 4 wheeler again. My XB12scg is my daily ride and the most fun I've ever had with my clothes on... How many of you guys n gals have had the same problem? [down]

This just happened to me last Wednesday :( I was also very concerned it was the common primary cover issue but luckily the cable broke right where it hooks into the clutch lever. Just received my new cable last night. Yay!

I think the cable breaking is a fairly normal/common thing. ANY bike will have this issue at some point. Our clutches do require a lot of pull compared to most others, so it might be a bit more prevalent, but nothing to 'worry' about. Keep an eye on the end at the lever is about all you can do and keep him lubed up good. I did lose a cable about two years ago. I want to get a 'spare' and keep it around. I was lucky then....I only had to drive about 40 miles to another dealer that MY dealer located for me.

My job is a 76 mile round trip and this is my commuter. The biggest problem is the $125 fuel bill this week I'll be shelling out because I'm driving the 4 wheeler instead. I love 40+mpg at 90 mph.
